My Hawaiian Honeymoon

Our Hawaiian Honeymoon was awesome. For all of those brides going to HOneymoon in Hawaii you will have the time of your life!!!
What everyone tells you it's true. It is absolutely beautiful and the weather was fantastic 80-85 everyday and sunny ( sorry I heard NY had rough weather the past 2 weeks).
DO your research about each island you are going to. There is so much to do. We went to Maui and Kuai. I highly recommend 2 books- Maui revealed and the Ultimate Kuai handbook. They are both excellent and we brought them everyewhere we went.
ALso if you can rent a convertible please do it makes your journey even better!! ( I personally think the convertible was better than the jeep. you have to remember you have to fit your luggage into the car. The convertible has more room)

Ok here it goes:

Maui- 5 nights, 6 days- Awesome!!! We stayed at the Four Seasons in Wailea. Absolutely the cream of the crop in resorts. If you stay there you will e more than pleased. I felt like a princess there. They upgraded us to there best room- top floor-fron ocean view and the rooms were huge!!!!
YOu will have to be doing alot of driving and if you do activities be prepared to get up really early!!!
We did the following activities:

38 mile bike ride down Mt. Hakelala( I don't know how it is spelled)- the highlight of my trip. Well worth getting up at 1:30 in the morning- you get to see the sunrise an dbike down a 10,000 feet mountain. Don't worry. You don't peddle the entire way down.
Road to Hana- if you have a convertible this activity will be twice as beautiful. Leave early in the morning bacuase it will be a full day. On the trip stop at the Garden of Eden. Beautiful views. Read the Maui book revealed have lots of info about this...
Feat at LeLe-- very good Luau and more intimitate than the Old Lahaina Thumbs up!!!

We relaxed the rest of the time there at the pool. Oh we used the spa which was awesome highly recommend after that 38 mile bike ride.

Restaurants--everyone we went to was phenominal. You won't go wrong anywhere just be prepared to spend at least $100 per meal. That was without drinks....
Spago- in the Four seasons--great
Mama's Fish House-- pretty good not one of our favorites
David Paul's-- in Lajaihana- Awesome must go!!!
Sansei- if you are into Sushi--fantastic I talked about it for days--

KUAI- 6 nights seven days
Kuai was so beautiful very very laid back not as much going on as Maui but exactly what we needed for the honeymoon.

We stayed at the Hyatt--- ok, going from the four seasons to the Hyatt was a little bit of a let down but don't get me wrong it was a beautiful resort. Just a little different in the services and so forth--email me for more info. The pools were amazing. and it was perfectly located. For those worried about the construction, it didn't phase us.

Activities--- plenty to do. use that Kuai handbook
Power catamaran and snorkeling trip-- was great 7 hr cruise to see the NApali coast and Nihau the forbidden island and snorkeling off Nihau. Well worth it. USe HOloholo tours.
Kayaking down wailea river( outfitters kayaking)-- if you like hiking (1 hr hike) and paddling a canoe (3.5 miles ) and going to a beautiful waterfall. then do it. Personally we weren't prepared for the kayaking part it is a lt of hard work.
and relaxing.
Waimea canyon- perfect thing to do the day you leave if you have the late flight back to the mainland--beautiful good 3 hour trip.

DAy trip to Oahu---must do...lso worth it. Everyone we met on the islands said we were doing the smart thing. No one was impressed with Oahu. WHat we did was use Polynesion tours.. they meet you at the airport with tickets and tell you where to meet the bus. From Kuai it is an 18 minute flight. When we got there there was a group from Maui waiting for the same bus. Our tour guide was awesome!!!
WE saw Pearl Harbor, Uss Missouri, downtown Waikiki and he took us to other points of interests that were on Oahu. I think it is better than renting a car and finding everyhere on yourown. This way you just sit back and relax!!! WE were back in Kuai by 7:15 pm.

Restaurants---
TIDepools and DOndero's in the hyatt-great
ROys in Poipu-fantastic they have one on Maui also
The Beachouse- ( make reservations for sunset) as soon as you get to the hotel!!
everything you here abou this palce is true beautiful sunset.
tropical burgers-if you want a quick meal burgers were great.
CAfe Hanele in the Princville--- perfet thing to do to see the north side of the island. It is and hour and a half drive there and bsack from the Hyatt.
We got there at sunset, beautiful.

We got the Hawaii for Dummies book, but will pick up the two you mentioned as well. Reading your review made me really look forward to our HM all over again.

Aloha & Welcome Back! I'm sure you're even a little sad to be back ... NOTHING prepares you for how beautiful it is in Hawaii! Reading your review brought back so many memories! Glad to hear that the renovations aren't causing any inconviences. Should be good news for all of our Hyatt HM's to come!

Jenn .... We had the opposite experience. We stayed at Hyatt Kauaii first which we LOVED! Then went to Hyatt Mauii. THAT was a step down. I'm sure the Four Season's Resort was amazing, so the Hyatt seemed less so in comparison. If they'd have done it in reverse, they might not have thought so. That's what we decided about our 2 hotels.

ahhh - I just relived my HM! We went to both islands and stayed at the Hyatt Kauai - that was the best resort ever so I can't imagine how nice the other one was for you!!!

We can't wait to go back to Kauai - what a relaxing time we had
