My heart feels like a ticking time bomb...

My heart feels like a ticking time bomb...

I posted my concerns regarding my invitations a few days ago. I went to three post offices. One of them said that my envelope is considered a small parcel and would cost 1.57. The other two post offices said that .78 was enough. I dont know about you, but I think that's quite a difference in price. Great Neck post office swore that my invitation would get through standard mail with .78. So.....I finally made the decision to send myself one. Well, it hadnt arrived the next day. So, then we decided to put another stamp on the invtations (now 1.32) and just send them out that day since we are already late with sending them. The following day, my invitation comes all bent with marks all over it. There was no postmark on it and crayons marks going through the two stamps, which I guess means that it wasnt enough postage? F@*king post office!!!! So now I am FREAKING OUT that 1.32 is not going to be enough and all of my invitations will be sent back.

How much postage did everyone put on their rectangular 5x7 pocketfolds? Mine has a flat ribbon with a monogram tag and three inserts. I am PRAYING that 1.32 is going to be enough!!!!!

Mine had a big bow with a knot and made it through to all my guests with $1.39. You should be ok.

Do you or FH have a postage machine at work? I brought one of my invites in and weighed it on our machine to figure out the postage.

My invitations are different so 1 60 cent stamp enough...but the POST OFFICE does STINK!!!!!

I sent an invitation to the wrong address, I was 1 number off....and 2 weeks later it gets returned to me....

I dont understand why they couldnt figure it out OR why it took soooo long to come back to me!

It weighs in at .78...but like I said, I put .88 on and that was not enough. They told me that the envelope definetely cleared for size. It just wasnt very 'bendable'. So I had them do the 'flat rate' price which is 1.22.

okay, is your invite a pocketfold? Trust me, its considered a parcel, especially if you cant bend it. Mine was like 1.57 it was a pocketfold with ribbon and two cyrstals on the front ... we put them through as parcels, paid more, but they arrived totally unharmed and everything in place

edt to add: my are 7.5x7.5 with the envelopes and not bendable plus they were heavy cardstock with 3 inserts, so it was pretty heavy

Do you remember what yours weighed in at? Mine was 2.33 ounces and it fit through that slot that they test standard envelopes on. So, if it fits through, it should be considered a standard envelope...not a parcel.

Re: My heart feels like a ticking time bomb...

Mine were 4x6 pocketfolds with a ribbon and bow tied around the front flap - they would've fit thru w/ regular 61c wedding stamp if it wasn't for the bow, so they ended up costing 80c and everyone received theirs, except for a couple of wrong addresses, not my fault. They weren't in the BEST shape, but the invitation wasn't marred in any way, just the envelope. I went to Lindenhurst PO and then to the Babylon one. They were hand canceled. When I went to the Oyster Bay PO (near work) they questioned the few I was mailing out late - saying, 'The other post offices let you mail them out like THIS?' UGH!
