My hip has been hurting...(Update - ANGRY)

Now it's been bothering me for a while, but I've let it go.. I have a lot of pain I just live with. But this finally got to the point where it woke me up at night if I rolled over it.

I had orthdics put in my feet for my knee injury (I have hyper-extended knees and flat fee) and have spent the last year getting them set so my knee doesn't feel like it's exploding and now my HIP hurts!

Apparently I changed my 'gait' and now have some medical jargon for a swollen hip and something with the word 'Burstis' in it.

So guess what!?!?

BACK TO PHYSICAL THERAPY!

God help me! This is my 5 'script for PT. And I've been in PT for over a year as it is when you add up the time!

If this doesn't work then it's Cortizone shots to my hip to relieve the pain.

Oh and I'm on Celebrex too!

Called my workers comp adjuster to give her the good news.. first question from both the doctor and the adjuster 'Did you plan to have children' my answer 'ABSOLUTELY'

Both gave me the impression I'm in for a doozey of a ride with this hip.

Re: Saw my doctor yesterday cause my hip has been hurting...

I had the same thing--was in a LOT of pain, couldn't walk right after sitting, had to limp until my hip got used to it, but was always in pain... it got so bad that it felt like there was a knife stabbing me in the hip. So, I went to physical therapy for a few months... they thought I had rheumatoid arthritis, so I had to see a specialist (thank god I don't have it!). The specialist gave me 600mg ibuprofen pills for the pain and more phys therapy.. finally he gave me the cortisone shot. It took a few weeks but it finally started to feel better and now I only have occasional pain if I sit funny for too long or have my leg in a weird position.

The shot didn't even hurt that much, and I'm a big baby when it comes to shots!! The fear was worse than the pain! Actually, the stabbing in my hip was worse than the shot, I asked the doctor, 'when are you going to do it?' (I had my eyes closed) and he said 'I'm done!'

I also slept with ice packs on my hip... it helps. I hope you feel better!

Is it bursitis? I have that. It is an inflammation of the bursa, which are apparently little fluid filled sacks that live in our joints. Who knew?

Mine went away, in a couple of months, it only bothers me on occasion.

I didn't go to PT, they just told me to do any excercise that didn't cause pain & to rest it when I could.

I think I also iced it for a while, since it is an inflamation. The drugs didn't work.

My father used to have bursitis in his shoulder. Moist heat helped him, when it acted up.

I'll be praying that the PT helps you.

Re: Saw my doctor yesterday cause my hip has been hurting...

Lets add to this drama shall we? (ANGRY)

So yesterday (Tuesday) I call the Physical Therapist my doctor recommended just to find out their hours and such since they're in Long Island and I work in the City.

I called my Workers Comp adjuster (Boy I really need to just FILE a bad faith claim) and told her the name phone number and address of the PT.

Today I got a call from the Physical therapist.
Her: Uhm, Veronica (maiden Name) ??
Me: Yep that's me, but I got married and answer with my married name
Her: Didn't I talk to you yesterday? I'm calling from the Physical Therapy office
Me: Yes, I asked your hours so I could get a feel for when I could come in reasonably.
Her: Well an odd thing happened, yesterday before we closed we got a call from your adjuster, she gave us authorization to see you.
Me: Ok, so what's odd?
Her: Well no adjuster EVER calls us the same DAY a patient does with authorization especially if you just saw the doctor on Monday.
Me: Well, my claim is old and they really do want to settle this.
Her: Well ok, so I have you for one day of review of your condition and then we have to file our opinions with your adjuster and doctor before we get further authorization.
Me: Uhmmm Nooooooooooooo I have 8 weeks bi weekly, it's right here on my prescription.
Her: Well that makes sense, we know Dr. Fealy and the Hospital for Special Surgery wouldnt leave you with just one visit to us, but your adjuster won't allow more than one.

Ok, now I'm just a LITTLE ticked off. In the real world this means my adjuster wants an evaluation of my 'pain' to see if it is 'necessary' for PT.

@itch!. I am an ex claim gal. I handled Comp claims, she's workin this one. If these dumb@sses would have settled with me back in April when I TRIED to this wouldn't be a problem. It's not my fault the injury is causing other pain!

And folks think 9/11 victims were 'taken care of'. BAH! BULL! I'm still fighting the system and because of my comp I NEVER qualifed for the victims compensation fund!

I need to hurt someone!

So, I have an appt friday to see the PT. I am NOT putting it off.

Yeah that's it.
I've had mine for months (almost a year) and it's extraordinarily painful.

It won't go away because the orthodics I wear cause the inflamation and I can't stop wearing those.

I had a cortizone shot to my shoulder a year or so ago. That hurt !! They had to grab the front of my shoulder, fist the needle in the other hand and STAB my back to get through to the point they needed. I didn't cry but it wasn't FUN that's for sure. I felt really woozy afterwards. I didn't think it was bad (I'm not afraid of needles and have been shot up lots of times) but apparently my body disagreed. I went into shock and nearly blacked out according to the doctor.

I would (of course) prefer not to do that again. Plus shots to my hip wouldnt just be once, they'd continue since the orthodics continue.
