My HM review of Cabo Riu Palace and Dreams
Honeymoon C+/B
Cabo San Lucas
Riu Palace: B
Check in: The check in procedure was ok. They put us in a room with a garden view and 2 double beds. We called right away and they moved us to the correct room. Be aware of these types of things because if we didn’t call they would not have noticed they made a mistake. We got an ocean view room and it was nice.
The hotel was gorgeous. If you are looking for a place just to relax and sit by the pool or by the ocean this is the place to do it. It is one of the only hotels you can go in the ocean so if you like the beach this is the resort for you.
Food, it was unfortunate the food at the hotel was not very good at all. I lived on Ice cream for 5 days. This was upsetting.
We did go to town one night we went to Cabo Wabo totally worth it. Great food, good bands lots of fun.
Activities at the hotel, non existent. If you’re like my husband he needs to do things during the days you will not like this place. We were so bored that we actually went snorkeling and ATV riding. This cost us a lot of money to do. If the hotel had activities he would have kept busy and we would have saved money. The tours were fun.
Night Life: They did a show every night and had a club on the resort. It was ok. You had something to do at night.
The only other thing was if you were hungry after 11 there was no food at all.
Dreams C+
Check in: Wrong room, missing information, no honeymoon package (this was not the hotel’s fault)
Concierge was nice he helped as much as he could.
After 5 hours we did get a room that was right.
First thing that happened to us, there were ants in our bed! They came and cleaned but the ants were all over you kept finding them (never in our bed again) but other places. (hotels problem)
Kids there was an abundance of children at this resort. I would not recommend it for a Honeymoon at all.
Food was EXCELLENT! The food here was great! Could be I didn’t eat at the other resort at all.
Activities: Well here Steven was happy. But since there were so many kids they were packed. They should have separated the activities, Kids and Adults.
Room Service: They talk about 24 hour room service. Well this is really not true at all. It stops at 11.
Night Life: None. Place closes down at 10. I wished my TA would have told us all this because we would have never stayed here.
It cost $40 just to get into town. So we were stuck.
Honeymoon Package: We paid extra for this. Couples Massage was AWESOME! Breakfast in Bed: not good
Special turn down service was nice, they put candles and rose petals it was pretty (not worth the money thought). The beach front dinner was at a restaurant that we could have went to and ate the same food, the seating was the only difference (not worth the money for the seat)
Clean: This resort was not that clean at all. The Riu all you saw was people cleaning all the time
I would not recommend this hotel for a HM. Unfortunately we spent a lot of money on this trip and were disappointed with the places. Luckily we had met some people, and made some fun!
Tips: Riu you didn’t feel obligated to give anyone an extra tip. You did if you wanted. Dreams people looked for tips. It was odd, you had to sign for everything even if you are all inclusive. They don’t give bracelets out which was annoying. So you signed for everything and then they would look for a tip. I am all for tipping. But when a waiter only comes once to me at the pool and never comes back after I tip them, then its not good service. At the Riu we tipped our bartender and he made sure we always had a drink.
I did a lot of research on trip advisor before going and I still was mis-informed. I really do want to goto Secrets and El Dorado we plan on going next year.
