I don't post much, but I was wondering if I can get some opinions here.
I had my wedding in June and the photographer did a totally botched, sloppy, poor quality job on my pictures. Recently, I had him retake pictures on the beach and they came out good (not great). I called him today to ask if I can get the photos on a disk because I want my mom and MIL to see them. Well, he told me that I do not get my disk until one year AFTER I get my album, which, of course I haven't even done yet, let alone our thank you cards because the photos on my wedding day were so unacceptable. Everything has already been paid for upfront and I am thinking of not doing an album anyway.
Has anyone else had to wait to get their pictures on disk a year after their wedding? I am so disgusted by this guy!
Thanks!

wow I am sorry you are going through this ~ Do you have a contract? if so tell him you will have to seek legal counsel if he does not accomodate your wishes ~ since he 'botched' your wedding day pics I would think he could accomodate (or kiss your butt) to make you HAPPY! Good Luck!

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
I should be a little more specific. Originally, we were supposed to marry in our backyard and 3 months before the wedding we decided to do it at an RH. Since we had so little time we went for a package from the RH. At the wedding he was having problems with his camera (wouldn't flash) so he missed so many important moments that we could never get back. So the 'contract' is really the contract from the RH.
So I brought the proofs to the owner of the RH and he agreed that they were terrible. So decided not to pursue monetary damages from the photog and instead have him do some shots at the beach. By the way, when I got the reshot proofs they came in those envelope things you get from printing at photo stores. I wish that I could show post the proofs here, but he will not even email them to me. How do you ladies get your proofs a week after your wedding and then are able to post them here?

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
Most photographers return home from a wedding and begin uploading the pics from their memory cards right onto the computer. Some will then send a little preview to the bride & groom - just to give them a taste of what's to come. So a lot of girls post from those 'previews'.
I have to be honest & tell you it's all on the photographer - whatever method they prefer. My photograher is spectacular (gary leli - www.leliphotography.com)!!! We did our engagement pics at a beach & then Adventureland. We were at Adventureland until 9:00 PM and by 10:30 that night - i had all the pics to look at online!
It's all in how they work...

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
I have heard that some photographers do wait a year to give you the proofs so that you can do what you want with them. They probably think that if you want them sooner than one year, you'll purchase prints from them - if not, you can wait a year. :(

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
I would threaten them with the BBB!!! My coworker had the same problem last year and was in tears. Im a Digital Retoucher so I told her to get the raw images on a disk and I would try to help out, but there is no reason it should take that long!

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
When I got the proofs from the wedding day, he asked me to do a review for him here. I am just so upset, I would think he would bend over backward to make me happy. Apparently not. He said, your album includes x amount of pictures and for a fee you could add more. Well, honestly, there ain't that many decent one (except for the beach shots) to make an album! I know by his statement that he is looking to make something off me.

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
By the way, I spoke to my MIL and she thinks I shouldn't even bother doing an album for all the grief with this dude. All I want is some kind of digital images and be done with it and then I can decide what to do with them.

So sorry you're going through this! Can you see if you can get the proofs on a disc if you pay for them now instead of having to wait a year?

Re: My &%$#ing Photographer!
Can you call the Better Business Bureau on them?? Its ridiculous that this guy is holding our pictres hostage so to speak. Theres no reason that he shouldnt give you your prints on a disc or at least mail some of them to you but it sounds like he just wants to make sure that he can squeeze some more $$ out of you by getting you to pick out your albums and then charging you something for it. Otherwise why wouldnt he just give you what you've already paid for.
I really hope things get better for you with these folks. Let us know what happens!!
