Re: My Kleinfeld girls
is your dress in already? my dress came in exactly 8 weeks before the wedding, and kleinfelds orders dresses so it does arrive in the store at about 8 weeks bc they dont want to hold it in the store for too long.
They do alterations about 6-8 weeks before the wedding which is more than perfectly fine and i STRONGLY suggest this. Wait until the closest possible time before your wedding. Your weight can change from the craziness and stress right before and many have this problem. My last fitting was about 2 weeks before the wedding and I really wish i had done it even closer. At last fitting it fit PERFECTLY and i was supposed to maintain that weight and not lose. My last 2 weeks were so insane and so much running around and knots in my stomach that i lost weight and my dress fit a bit looser than at final fitting bc of this.

Thanks! I actually got it at the kleinfeld's sample sale so I have it at home for a couple of months already. I was just wondering when to bring it back because there isnt anything to fix fit wise, just the length and they have to replace some missing beading and clean it cause it was a sample.
So I guess I will call them a coiuple of months before the wedding then.
thanks!

Re: My Kleinfeld girls
I got mine at the sample sale as well but I'm not having it done there. I have my own seamstress back in westchester who is charging a ton less then they do. She's also replacing the beading which I was able to easily find at a few stores in the city. If you want to save some $$ i'd say find someone private to do it.
I'm going at the end of march for my fitting but I have a lot to be done. It needs to be taken in, beading added, possibly taken up, and a few other things.

I wouldn't suggest scheduling a fitting more than 2 months out. Your body can lose/gain a few pounds in those few weeks before the wedding. TRUST me.

yeah then 6-8 weeks is more than fine. I went about 6 weeks before to start the process and they ended up having alot to do with the bottom. My height wasnt taken into consideration, and it needed to be hemmed. But the thing is that i had crystals all the bottom of my train and she had to remove it all, hem it and put it all back and was still done in plenty of time.
I agree, go elsewhere then. Do you still get a cap on alterations if you bought it through a sample sale? if you dont get a cap then go elsewhere no matter what bc it does get expensive. If you get a cap on alterations, i will say that yes kleinfelds does have a higher cap than other places BUT also find out how much another place will charge you bc alterations on wedding dresses are very expensive and even simple things can really add up. One girl on here bought a KP dress at the running of the brides, went to a seamstress and just needed small things changed and they wanted to charge $900. So compare prices and see what would be best. A cap is good bc no matter how much work you get done, they cant go past that amount.

I know that Kleinfelds cap is high but the thing is I know where to buy the beads to replace them myself in the city but I have been checking out some seamstress in my area and they just arent that great so I am nervous getting my dress done somewhere else .. kleinfelds may be high but like Denise said unless you know for sure that the person you are trusting your dress too is excellent do do it cause it could cost more! I knew this one seamstress that before she would prices to customers she would check the labels of the clothes to see who the desinger was. If the designer was an expensive one she would charge more becuase the work done would be more delicate and careful! ***!

if you do get the cap then yeah go for it. Bc its hard going in somewhere and if any small changes come up after theygive you a quote you can end up paying god knows how much. PLUS you do want a trusted seamstress.
