My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

Ok - so I am 99% sure we am going to do the Hyatt in Aruba for 11 days/10 nights for our honeymoon. Now, for us to stay that long, our budget allows us to stay in a gardenview room. Is it better to shorten our stay (say, maybe 8 or 9 nights) and have a better room? I don't plan on being in the room that much so I don't know if splurging for the view really matters? Also, from what I've heard the Hyatt doesn't have balconies so it's not as if we would spend more time in the room eating meals or anything. For those who have gone to the Hyatt, if we go with the garden view room is their a chance of us getting upgraded (not that I am counting on it). Thanks for the help!

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I think 11 days in Aurba is a long time. I would rather stay in a great room for less days, come home and enjoy a few days before going back to work. JMO.

I agree with Michelle.

Go for the better room.

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I think 8 days in Aruba is plenty of time...but at the same time the Hyatt is very nice so you dont need to spend a fortune on a wasted pool view. Maybe you can set that money aside to eat at the best restaurants there or go shopping for some nice souveniors?

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I would rather have a little less nicer room and more time down there.

How long do you spend in the room anyway and does it really matter HOW nice it is as long as you are together!

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

8 or 9 days is plenty of time in Aruba, although I always wish I can stay for a month. A garden room view in the Hyatt isn't that bad. You can always watch the sunset on the beach and besides I never spend alot of time in my room! The rooms are the same just the view is different.

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I agree that 8 days is a good amount. And the idea of taking a few extra days of down time when you come home is great. You know that feeling when you come right back to work from a vacation and you feel like you never had a vacation at all?

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

Kellydan - that is one of the reasons why we aren't doing Hawaii (besides the $$$ factor). We would've had to return home on Sunday and than go back to work that Monday.

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I am still struggling with the same better room vs. more days dilemma, so I don't really have any advice for you. I just wanted to say that we are getting married on the same day and FH and I are going to Aruba also We are going to stay at the Radisson.

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

Becky - that's a so funny that we'll be in Aruba at the same time! I know it is a hard decision - I think we are going to do 10 days/9nights in a garden room b/c we can always upgrade our room at a later date. Good luck!

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

We went to Aruba on our honeymoon and opted to stay less nights (7) and upgrade to an ocean front room - I would do that again in a heartbeat! You could not beat waking up to ocean views... JMO

Re: My last honeymoon question (I promise)!

I am leaving for Aruba on Tuesday!! (We go every year). Here is my opinion... I love Aruba, so don't get me wrong with what i am about to say. 11 days is way too long!! The beach is gorgeous, but other than sitting by the beach, going to dinner, and gambling there is not much else to do. There are maybe one or two day trips that you can do, but that's it. I would upgrade to a better room, and stay less time. We usually go for 8 or 9 days and I get a little antsy after 7 days. But that's just me... I would have recommended taking the ferry to Venezuela for a day or two, but I don't think that the political climate is that good there now. Please FM me if you want any specific information.
good luck
