My life for the next 8 weeks

My life for the next 8 weeks

Will be filled doing the following: weekly OB visits, weekly sonograms at the hospital, and maybe weekly visits to the diabetic dr (depending on what they say next week). That translates to sitting in traffic and sweating my youknowwhat off in the car w/o a/c getting to said visits!! Also translates to a lot of running around and a very busy schedule on my calendar!!! (It's all highlighted in pink!!)

On the down side, the dr told me that if my fasting levels in the morning don't go down (they are slightly elevated), I might have to go on insulin for the night! What kills me with that is that my levels are perfectly fine BEFORE I go to bed, so it's the hormonal surge that comes w/pregnancy that is making them go high during the night. I don't eat in the middle night -- I'm not like Joe who does the midnight raid IN HIS SLEEP and has no clue he ate until I tell him the trail he left in the kitchen the next morning!

I was very bummed last night because I felt like my life was being taken over with dr's visits and instead of worrying about getting the room done or whatever, I have to worry about getting to all this appointments and the Baby Bear Cub -- hence the weekly sonograms to check the baby's size. The baby is fine (nice strong heartbeat) and I'm extremely grateful for that.

I've waited a very long time for both Joe and Baby Bear Cub -- at one point in my life, I never thought I'd have a husband, let alone a baby -- so I'm very happy that the wait finally paid off and I found the man of my dreams who made all my dreams come true (how sappy am I right now?). I always felt like I had a black cloud following me my whole life and the skies opened up when I met Joe and then when I miscarried, I felt the black cloud was coming back, but it went away when I got pg with Baby Bear, but now I feel it's semi-back because of this. Don't mind me, I'm attending my own pity party right now, I'll get over it.

I know deep down everything is going to be fine and my Baby Bear Cub will be ok -- hopefully not a gigunda Grizzly !! It's just a bit frustrating having to go through all this at the end, when it should be more fun and exciting, then stress-ridden and nerve-wracking!

And God Bless my DH!! He told me he'll take me to all the appts. since my car's a/c isn't working, but he can't because of the times. Plus not for nothing after hearing him biotch last night about the wait in the dr's office, I'm better off w/o him!! I know he was hungry and tired, but I had no control over it and he realized it later and apologized to me for getting crabby! I told him to stop taking those crabby patties!

Ok, I'm through with my pity party! Thanks for letting me vent and for listening!

Is it possible for you a/c to get fixed? maybe it just needs a recharge and that isn't too expensive? or maybe you can switch cars with DH for a while or borrow a parents.

how is work dealing with all of this? I hope okay.

You have every right to be a bit down about this. it is probably a bit overwhelming and nerve wracking! vent here anytime.

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Deb you need that a/c fixed, the appts are necessary and we don't want crabby Joe taking you can you and Joe switch cars on the day you have to go??? I know all will be well. I prayed for you and I always do. You little bear cub will bring you so much joy you will be so happy that you went thru all this.

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Nope -- there's too many things wrong with it and it isn't worth fixing. And I can't drive DH's car because it's a stick shift!! He tried to teach me once, but I stalled the car so much that I drained his battery and he hasn't taught me since then!!!

As for work, they've been really good about it. I've been here for 15 years, so that helps. I just hope I can get all this stuff here done before I leave because I don't want to come back to an even bigger pile!

I can't get all worked over something I have no control over, so I just gotta go with the flow for now!!!

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Thanks guys , you always know how to make me feel better!!!

As for my crabby hubby, as long as he's fed, he's happy, so I'll just make sure to feed him BEFORE he takes me anywhere!

I also think he was/is really nervous and is trying to make me feel better. When we left last night he was trying to make me laugh and stuff, but I was crying and he was like 'don't worry baby, everything will be fine', etc. I try not to let him see me get nervous because it gets him more nervous, but he was pretty calm last night!! And he gave the Bear Cub a 'tallking to' and told him/her to be good to mommy and make me feel better! He's very funny that man of mine!

Gotta go check the blood and then eat! I'm running out of fingers to prick!!!

You are just being tested on how strong you are, it will be smooth sailing once Bear Cub makes its appearance, I am sure of it! Someone up there just wants you to know how to appreciate this child.... And we all know you will!!

Deb - chin up! You are doing great and believe me, at this point you are entitled to a pity party once in a while! But you are in the home stretch and as long as baby bear is o.k. nothing else matters. I think it is adorable that your husband gave the baby a talking to! Just think, it will all be worth it when you have that baby in your arms! And don't stress too much about getting ready. I did that and spent the whole week before I was due running myself ragged, when instead I should have rested, relaxed and enjoyed some alone down time. Your newborn doesn't need much but your love when he or she arrives! Somehow it will all pull together! Hugs to you !!

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Deb believe me it will be worth all the nonsense once you hold your little 'cub' for the very first time. . As a woman who went through not one, but two summer pregnancies (September 4 and August 23) I can sympathize with your no a/c plight!!! .

Here is a funny story to make you feel better. The summer that I was pregnant with my daughter there was record breaking heat (1977). NYC had a black out for power overuse and LI was on power restriction so we couldn't use A/C. I was so hot all the time that all I wanted was to go to Alaska. We had a small apartment and the tub was only 3/4 length. One day when the temp was around 98 degrees (for probably the 15th day in a row) I decided to sit in a bathtub of cold water because I just couldn't take the heat anymore!!!

Now getting into the tub was an event since it was small and I was bigand pregnant, but it felt so good that I just sat there and sat there and sat there! I started to turn into a prune so I decided it was time to get out. Just one problem......

I couldn't get out!!!!!!!! I was so off balance that everytime I tried to get up I would start to fall over. So I start yelling for my husband (ex now) to come and help me!! He doesn't come. I am now yelling at the top of my lungs and still no response (at this point I am thinking I will die in the tub and OMG imagine what they will think when they find me!!!!). Of course to make it worse I have to go to the bathroom (big surprise there) and the baby is laying on my bladder!! Of course by now I am in tears, knowing that not only will never get out of the tub and that I will be found dead naked (not a pretty sight) but that I will also have no choice but to go to the bathroom in the tub!!!!!!! Just when I have about given up hope, I hear the phone ring and I can tell that hubby answers it. So I start banging on the wall and screaming his name!!!!

Finally, finally he comes to he door and says completely straight faced 'Do you need help or something?' Then the jerk starts laughing at me!!!!! I asked him where he was while I needed help and he says.....'Oh I was tired so I took a nap.' Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! You heard the phone and not me???? Needless to say I got out of the tub, went to the bathroom and didn't talk to him for the rest of the day!!!

It really is a funny story....NOW!!!!! So hang in there Deb. Someday you will have great stories to tell other Mom's to be!!

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Awww Deb ... Jenn and everyone else is right ... this is just a small price to pay for having a healthy cub. Once your baby bear is in your arms ... you are going to forgot all of this aggravation until he/she does something wrong and you'll be like ... 'you don't know what I went through to bring you into the world ... yada yada yada' ! I can picture it now!!!

to you, my friend!!!

Deb I'm so sorry that you are going through such a difficult time. I'm sure you know that it will all be worth it when your little one gets here. Hopefully your husbands little talk with the bear cub may have worked a bit.

Wishing you all the best.

Re: My life for the next 8 weeks

Debbie, youre such a great sport ! and Joe is such a riot ! Sounds like you found your soulmate, what a good guy. hey he was hungry, lol, but no reason to get feisty, big guy Hey we just got home from grocery shopping and it was one of those nights were dinner was missed, my class was cancelled, i got home earlier than usual but way past dinner time, he got home and went straight to the backyard to powerwash the cement, so he was starving in the supermarket, and I had to hear it too, MEN

Anyway, Im sure everything will be just fine with your precious little one. WHAT made you pick a Dr so far away ?????? Anyway, as long as they treat you good, theyre worth the trip !

Big hugs baby !!

Wendy .... HOW FUNNY!

Deb ....

Now, when you get your diaper bag organized ... make sure you leave room for a snack for Joe!!! And DON'T forget to take something for him to the hospital ... last thing you need is to have a crabby hubby when YOU'RE in labor!

One day at a time, sweetie. And it'll all go by so fast (of course you won't think that until afterwards, but you know its true! ) Meanwhile, you can vent here any time you need!!
