My Mid-Day Vent!!! sorry so long

Sooooooooooo im all excited today because i was going to send my invites out I call the Great Neck Post office and ask if they hand cancel happily the lady replies YES!!! Here i am with my half hour lunch break i run to the Post Office line is super long YAYYY Next says the bitter I hate my job man

I get to his window and he litterally pulls the box from my hand and i say with my most martha stewart voice Hi Sir I would like these hand cancelled and he sighs and said well have u sorted them by towns and I said uhh no sorry didnt know to do that so he pulls my little happy invite out and plops it on the scales and snalrs atleast u have the right postage

me holding my composure asks so will I stamp them or do I leave the box here he snarls again and utters well we are short handed and they are just invites

JUST INVITES YOU A$$ that envelope hold my future u freaking waste of life but any who he then goes on to say well i will take the box we are understaffed today so IDK when we will get around to it and still me being peachy ask well will they def be hand cancelled he said WELL I WILL TELL YOU YES BUT WE WILL PUT THEM THREW THE MACHINE THEY ARE JUST INVITES

SOOOOOO i go to grab my box now im flipping mad and about to cut him lol and i said may i stamp them myself he says no and pulls the box out of my reach and says NEXT!!! on goes the little light and im dismissed


SOOOOOOO my Italian and puerto rican a$$ hoped up on the counter pulled my box and told me i didnt appreciate him being so unprofessional and stormed out

I got back to my office in like tears vented to my boss who happens to have a long term relationship with this particular station and he called management and will take my invites in the AM and personally see they are hand cancelled

RIGHT!!! I was like super amped doing the omg im really getting married in 11 weeks and the bitter post man pissed on my parade!!!

Atleast my boss is like super sweet at times and hates when ppl r unecessairly rude but like idk I really wanted to see to it they went out not say uhh hey mr boss send my invites out lol

They hand cancelled everything for me. I was adding stamps to my invites and the guy that worked there was hand cancelling right in front of me. (I think he liked me but whatever) So, the Melville PO on 110 is AMAZING and anyone who needs to do this should go there.

Hey can i ask a stupid question.. what exactly is hand cancelling?? and whats the benefit?

i feel it is much neater opposed to the machine stamp its a personal preference really

The benefit of having your invites hand cancelled is that they wont be run through the machines and rish the possibiity of getting stuck. My friend had hers run through the machine and they were so thick they were stuck and some were delivered all torn and others were never delivered at all!

As soon as he said 'they are just invites' I would have lost my mind.. but I have a bit of an attitude when people with CUSTOMER SERVICE jobs are rude for no reason!!

I get it your job sux you sort mail all day long.. but at least you have a job and dont have to take out your misery on customers!!!

Talk about going postal I would have killed them all!!

I'm sorry! Thats so unnecessary on such a special day for you.. I had a similiar situation happen to me when I sent my STDs the postal worker lied and told me they really don't do that anymore and 90% of the time there just going to send them through the machine anyway... rolled his eyes and said he'd do it anyway and then proceeed to angrily stamp the damn thing in diff spots on the envelope.. so I grabbed the stack and left the office tooo!! Thankfully I have my girls on LIW to set the record straight and tell me to go elsewhere that they still do hand cancel with no problem
