Sister: 'Tell Mom you don't want a shower because she keeps bugging me about it. She says it will be incredibly hurtful if you don't have one. You don't right?'
Me (driving):
Sister: 'Oh, you're kidding.'
Me:
Sister: 'really?'
Me: 'Well, yeah, I do want a shower...'
Sister: 'Oh lord...well, I'm not doing a lingerie shower. Remeber when our cousin had one and we refused to participate? Heh heh heh.'
Me: 'If someone threw me a lingerie shower, I wouldn't show up!'
Sister:
See, the thing is, I'm not your average bride. I'm 40 years old, I have pretty much everything I need, so it's not as if I need to be 'showered' with gifts for my new home. And I don't want anyone buying me lingerie, that would make me really uncomfortable. (I refused to participate in my cousin's because I didn't get my own invite as I was living at home at the time and I was insulted. Besides, it was in California, so it was just a gift-grab, I wasn't going to go to the shower.) But, I do want a shower! Not for the gifts, but because I want a fuss made over me. That's not wrong, right? This is my only wedding, and I want a little fuss. So I guess I'm having one. I'll send my mom a list of my friends and my FH's relatives.

Good for you, you deserve a shower. No matter what the 'theme' I hope your mom and sis pull thru for you!

I'm a 44 year old Bride and yes I want a shower, even tho I was on my onw for 15 years and have alot of stuff. This is a new phase of FH & My life that we are starting. We should have new things for our home.... It's our time so we really should be fussed over!!!!!

Re: My MOH (sister) says to me yesterday
Even though I am a 40 year old bride I still want a shower. I want everyone to fuss over me and yes I am looking forward to wearing that stupid hat that people make out of bows & ribbons. You deserve your shower, it doesn't have to be a shower where you get items for a new home or lingerie. You can suggest an afternoon tea or a picture theme, where your guests can give you frames, photo albums, if you have a digital camera they can give you photo paper for your printer. This way you can display pictures from your wedding and honeymoon and you won't have to worry about buying frames after your wedding.
