My mom finally showed some promise!

Well, she's been sad because she thinks she is old now that I am getting married, but yesterday she text messaged me saying how excited she's getting about the wedding and planning it. I'm so happy, it's about time!

it s*cks - she shows no interest at all.... didn't even care when i went looking for dresses.... i had to drag her out to show her JT.... doesn't wanna know about invitations, won't let me get ready in the house cuz don't ya know hairspray is a pain in the a$$ to clean up after.... yada yada yada......

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! Mom's can be poops. My mother was very wrapped up in what it meant for her, rather than for me. She is obsessed with not wanting to get old, or look old, or be old. She just turned 50 in January, it's like, get over it, this is my wedding! That and, like she says,'Well, your sister will feel bad if we give this too much attention.' Um, so tell her boyfriend to get off his lazy ars and propose, that is not my fault! Nor should I have my wedding played down for her sake! But It's been a while since I heard that one, and now she is just psyched. She said it started to sink in more lately because she has been receiving engagement gifts and wedding-type mail at her house for me (since I am living out of state for now). So maybe we can bombard your mom with mail or cleaning products or something!

yeah well my mom has no excuse - wedding is 5 months and change away - sees me working on wedding stuff all the time & just turns her face......

i can't be bothered - she sticks by her guns & tells me that it's all about keeping the friggin house clean - she even wants to have the housekeeper in my wedding video...... i said ARE YOU CRAZY - I DON'T WANT HER IN MY VIDEO!!!!!!!!!

she says - she is like family

i say - maybe yours........

LnP, do you think your mother is jealous of you? Maybe her attitude is because of jealousy, I'm not saying that makes it any better. Is she the kind of mom that will listen to what you have to say (not mine, she has the attention span of an infant, I love her, but she really doesn't listen to me).

I hope you get ready in her house and cover all the walls with Hairspary!!!!!!

My mom and I have nothing of a relationship.... Sad to say.... her sisters have taken over that part! At least I had someone I could go to....

I've actually decided to say F it, and am going to rent a hotel room the night b4 the wedding, with a couple of my girls & I'll get ready there. She can either meet us or not - depends on how good she wants to look!

That's probably the best thing to do, this way you have a place to get ready and you don't have to be so cautious of not messing up anything, and she's happy because you're not hairspraying the house (I honestly never heard that remark before reading your mom's reasoning!)

I'm sorry you don't have a relationship with her. I tell you, what goes around comes around...if she's mean to you, it will come back to her in one way or another! I really believe this, my uncle was a rotten b*stard to me and to the whole family...now, he locks himself in his home, never leaves because he's so mentally screwed up!

I'm not wishing bad things on your mother, but I do believe mean people will get theirs.

Sorry to hear about all your mom problems. I hear ya! My mom has just been getting really crazy as the day gets closer. Thank goodness she's halfway across the world right now. I really needed this breather! (she went to visit my grandparents) I'm hoping the visit will calm her down. Otherwise wedding day is going to be a disaster.

oh, BTW, my mom is such a clean freak that I didn't even consider using her place for hair. She would flip out on the wedding day if she saw that much hairspray flying!
