My BF's mom and my mom were friend, but my mom is mad at her because of **** she said about her and now my mom says she will not come to my wedding if they are invited. She is so fucked up. I told her that they mean alot to me and I have known them for my entire life. How do I invite BF and not her parents? How? I am so mad, why is everything about her, this is my day. I am so sick if this crap. I can not even talk to her anymore. She also said that she will also tell others not to come in her side of the family. How messed up is that? How come I get stuck with the fucked up mom. What am I going to do? I can't tell them my mom won't let you come. I am not 5 years old. Hello, this is my day. Sorry need to vent

Re: My mom is driving me crazy
my mom used to pull crap like this with me...but then she'd get over it. she most likely needs time to cool off and realize what a ridiculous request she made. hopefully she'll come around and see that she's in the wrong for putting you in this awkward position.. good luck!

Re: My mom is driving me crazy
I am sooo sorry you have this stress on you!
And I swear I don't mean to add to it, but I have to ask... how bad was the **** that your BF's mom said about your mom?
I am asking because if someone said something negative about my mother - I might not want to be around them. Your mother might feel that you are not loyal to her if there was something really awful said and you are poo poohing. Maybe she feels like if you ignore the fact that this other woman disrespected her, than it is tantamount to agreeing with what was said.
I would talk to Mom about what was said. It obviously hurt her deeply for some reason. If it really was petty BS that was said - then try to make your mother see that. Maybe you can get the 2 mom's together for some tea and healing.
If, however, it was something absolutely awful and out of line, then maybe you should consider NOT inviting your best friend's mom.
I would NOT want to be in your place right now and I truly am sorry for your having to deal with this Stuff!

You have about a year to go. Appease your mom for now and discuss it as the day gets closer. Fights blow over, and this to shall pass.

Re: My mom is driving me crazy
I do not really know what she said, my mom said someone told her she was talking ****. That is not a good enough answer for me. My mom is not a rational person especially since she's began her midlife crisis. I have tried appeasing her, but she I do not want to lye about it. I just want her to understand, and I know that she never will. She is very selfish and I know I have to make a decision.

If this is the case... I think that maybe you ought to sit the 2 women down together and let them know that they are both important to you and that you would very much like to have them be friends again.
I wish I could be more helpful!

Re: My mom is driving me crazy
Maybe you should pull someone else in on this to help you out... Does your mom have a close friend or a sister she really listens to? If you can find someone that your mom respects and will listen to their advise enlist them to talk to her and make her see she is being petty. She doesn't have to talk to your BF's parents if she doesn't want to- especially on your wedding day-- just seat them on opposite sides of the room. Hopefully your mom can be reasoned with by a third -impartial- party.
