my mom is so cute
This weekend, my FI's parents and my parents are meeting for the first time. FH's parents are coming in for the weekend from PA for the marathon and my mom is having us all over for dinner tomorrow.
My mom went out and got filet mignon for dinner and also shrimp cocktail as part of the appetizers -- made an apple pie and also bought a seven layer cake.
She called me at work today to ask the name of 'that red wine you and FH like so much' and where she could get it. (FH and I are into wine and my mom worries what she gets is never good enough, which is silly b/c we don't care!) Then called to ask me what his parents like to drink - do they like anything special? Does his dad drink beer? Any special kind of soda?
All this while my mother is a full time college professor! She doesn't teach on Fridays, though, so I guess she's preparing. Oh, she also had the cleaning service there last night to make sure the entire house was spotless. She's quite the hostess, I have to say. She called last week to run the menu by me to make sure that his parents ate beef!
I asked what I could bring and she told me nothing! I was going to make cookies, but I was specifically told not to today b/c my mom already got two desserts.
I think I am going to have a small flower arrangement sent to her tomorrow. I can't bring them with me b/c FH and I will be coming straight from the city with his parents.
My mom is just too much. I'm sure it'll be as elegant as Christmas dinner usually is. What a great mom I have to go to so much trouble!
