She's making me go register this week so she can work on the shower invitations (yes *making* me)
I have no interest. and honestly registering stresses me out. No idea why it stresses me out but I hate the idea of picking out paterns and bed spreads for an apartment that I don't yet have. How will I know if it's nuetral enough to go with anything?
No joke this so far has been the most stressful thing for me. ANd I haven't even registered yet! Just thinking about it makes me sweat lol
Anyone else have no interest in doing this?
Anyone else feeling pressure to do this?
Or am I the crazy one?
ps I'm a really HUGE girly girl. I LOVE shopping, so that's not my issue. I don't really know what my issue is.

Re: My mom thinks I'm wacko.
UMM I had an emotional break down after the first time I registered - it was HORRIBLE!!!!!!!
The 2nd time - when we went back and added more stuff was soo much better. The first time I had a guy that was overly helpful and kinda spoiled the experience for me.
The good thing about registering is you dont have to do it all at once. FH and I dont live together - we dont have a place to live yet, so like you said, picking bedding and towels for an imaginary place is really hard. So we haven't done it yet - I am going to wait another couple months and then add it.
So just start it - get the basics and the stuff that requires more thought or additional details, you can always add later.
Enjoy it - b/c the first time I didnt and Im kinda sad about that but the 2nd time made up for it.

I'm on the other end. I have the home but have no idea as to how it will be decorated. So I understand the registry frustration. Trying to pick out stuff when you're not even sure if you want it or like it can be tough. But hang in there, it can definitely be a fun experience!!

I didn't want to register but I eventually did mainly so people didn't feel obligated to give cash. That and apparently I'm having a bridal shower, which I really didn't want either. However I am glad I'm having one =)

I didn't register for my engagement party because I felt like people weren't obligated to get me a gift.. and no one even asked about a registry. It was great because i had a huge down payment to put on my reception hall with all the cash gifts we got.

I'm not doing a honeymoon registry - my relatives and friends had some choice words about what they thought about that idea. Plus I budgeted in the honeymoon with the wedding, so I don't need help with that - but FH & I don't live together so I'm worried about getting all the household items we will need.
Right now I'm just concerned with what to even put down on a registry (a traditional one),

Re: My mom thinks I'm wacko.
There are always going to be people who don't care for something, so we decided to do what makes us happy!! I am sure it is annoying to look at a million different patterns and make a decision on which you will want for a apt that is nonexistent, I'm sure that you will feel much better when you finally do it!!!! Maybe it's better that she is rushing you so you can just get it over with and you can conquer your fear. Good luck!!!

ITA! I was so stressed out at first, but then i realized that you do not have to pick everything all at once (and you do not have to listen to the long list of things the store would like you to register for!).
Now my FH and I will be shopping in the store and randomly add a thing or two, and we actually enjoy picking a few things at a time together.

I was really overwhelmed when I registered, but FH was loving it. And when you're all done its fun to keep track and edit your registry online!

Like everyone else said, no pressure to do it all at once. And, if you register for one pattern now, and then find your new place and realize it doesnt match you can always just change it if it hasnt been bought yet. And if it has you still dont have to worry because (most of the stores anyway) are supposed to have awesome return policies. Try to have fun!!
