my mom wants me to invite 2 more of her friends (i have supposedly have met them, but i don't remember them at all!!!) ... she says these two both live in Canada and it is extremely unlikely they will come .... i don't think i should invite them anyway though since FH and I don't want 'random' people at our wedding .... she's already inviting about 5 or so of her friends (but only ones that i know!)
do you ladies agree that i should 'just say no' ... or should i just keep the peace and send out 2 more invitations?

if it's only 2 people and she said they're not going to come anyway, then don't start a fight over it. when you tell her you will invite them though, tell her that you don't really want to invite random people you and fh don't know personally so these 2 additions are the last ones...

i would just invite them to keep the peace.. especially if it's unlikely they will come, there will be bigger and more important battles worth winning

Two people that are unlikely to come...I'd invite them. Especially if your mom is helping to contribute toward the wedding.

Re: my mom wants ...
if ur mom is anything like my mom, saying no would do no good. I said no numerous times and I am still sending invitation to the ppl she wants.
whatever. its her wedding too.
ask her if she's sure they wont come or are they making any plans to do so?

Re: my mom wants ...
i wouldn't invite them. a lot of people my mom and fmil said 'oh they won't be coming but send an invite' are now planning on coming
ETA: but that's just my 2 cents

that's what i'm afraid of ... i think it's kind of wrong, in a way, to invite people only because you don't think they'll be coming ...
on the other hand, if they do come, at least i'll get a gift out of it (sorry, i know it's kinda wrong to say that, but we all think that way so whatever hehe)

I tried saying no to the same request from FMIL. Long story short....they're being invited!

Re: my mom wants ...
what u girls dont understand is that..YES its YOUR wedding.. but the wedding is also for your parents. they want to share this day with their friends as well.
just like when u have a daughter and she gets married.. you would want to share it with your friends. no?
