my motherrrrrr- invite rant UPDATE

so my parents have been divorced forever, my stepmom's great, known her since i was like 6, mom and stepmom get along.

so FIRST mom doesnt want stepmom's name on the invite- which i understand. ok dealt with that.

NOW she wants her name to go before my dad's! is there some sort of rule about this?

UPDATE:

So dad calls me and says- can you make sure you put stepmom's name on it?

arrgghh!! i thought i dealt with that!!

now i have TWO problems FML

if ur dad's fine with it, then I'll just do it for her
my mom wanted her full name on there so I did made her happy and saved a lot of drama

in my opinion if you mom wants her name first, just put it first. it will save you from additional unnecessary stress.

something tells me he will, and then be passive aggressive about it... thats why im wondering if theres a protocol, then i can just use that as an excuse.

Well, with most wedding stuff (pertaining to the bride and groom anyway) the woman's name traditionally goes first. You can tell him this goes for the invites, too. I don't know how far he'll question it or if he really knows his wedding invite etiquette. LOL!

Well knowing that about your dad... do you think you could ask him about it... ask what his feelings are about your moms name coming first.

My parent's are also divorced, but neither has remarried. Originally I had my mom's name on the invite first, as that's what I thought etiquette dictated. Then my dad saw the invite and was like 'Ummmm since when does the female's name go first????'

I figured I'd just switch it rather than deal with the aggravation. My mom doesn't care either way.

'What about together with their parents' or 'the parents of'??? Those are all-inclusive :)

Or you could surprise them all and leave everyone's names off... take that complainers!!!

Parents get worked up about the craziest stuff... it's a name... on an invitation...

I know, it's so hard to make people happy... especially when it's something where you're thinking... ok.. invite wording... this will be a piece of cake... Stuff like that gets me beyond frustrated...
