My Mother's Day Gift from DH =) ALMOST Perfect !

On Mother's Day, John brought my son over to me, and had him hold a card with MOMMY written on it, and there's JohnAnthony with a card in his mouth, and holding it toward me, I LOVE THAT STUFF . So in the card he wrote that my 'gift' was a surprise that I would find out about soon...

My sisters hubby had the same 'Surprise' plan.
Why they waited this long, who knows !

Well we waited till today and got our gift.
Last nite we slept over her house. She had my niece's birthday party yesterday and we stayed over 'for our gift' today. John brought some casual-nice clothes, so I thought it was something where we were all going out to eat..

We all wake up, the hubbies cooked a big drawn out breakfast: Pancakes, plain and with fresh strawberries, eggs, bacon, coffee, etc.
My sis and I showered and got dressed and we all ate breakfast. (DH's were cooking and never got to shower, LOL)
After breakfast, they hand us envelopes..
Our gifts were:
A full day at the Elizabeth Arden Spa on FifthAve for
*A Swedish Massage
*Facial
*Manicure
*Makeup application
and I think one or 2 more things...

Well here is the reason that it was ALMOST PERFECT ! :

It was 9:20, and they told us the appointment was at 10am !! in the city !! So now we are running around to leave as soon as possible.
We are driving like lunatics, trying to get there on time.
We hit INEVITABLE NYC TRAFFIC and my sister was SCREAMING at how STUPID they were to let us know with such LITTLE NOTICE !!!
Usually on Sundays, its a 15 minute drive into the city from her house, so her hubby didnt think it was a problem.
Well we were in traffic and my sis called the place and asked if we were a bit late, (15min), whether they would cut it from the spa time,and they said YES they would . So we finally decided that we were going to reschedule it, and it wasnt worth the running around (in the rain!) to make it there LATE and stressed out. Of course she called the boys, and grilled them. They felt HORRIBLE and really didnt anticipate such bad traffic (There was a parade today! ). So they sincerely felt bad and felt like crap, so now we felt bad that they felt bad, LOL.

We still have to dispute it with EA because they said we 'cant' reschedule it. and they needed 48hrs notice to cancel.

Well we decided to still make a little day of it for ourselves, and we went to the village. We walked around in the drizzle (I LOVE THAT !!) and we decided, spur of the moment, to go into AstorPLace and get highlights, and a haircut.
So we did that for a few hours, and went out to lunch. We had fun sister time.
We came home, and they had a full dinner cooked and the house cleaned. They wanted to drop the kids off at grandma's and have candlelight (awe the thought was there! and they have emails to prove all this, LOL) but since yesterday was such a hectic, long day, they felt bad leaving all 4 kids with nonna and nonno).

So we had a really nice dinner too

They felt really bad, so that made up for the aggravation. We plan to reschedule the spa for sometime soon.

I was really impressed that John went all out to plan this and that they both went into all the effort to get this done for us.


WHY WHY WHY they didnt tell us ON MOTHERS DAY, we dont know !! John claims he wanted to just tell us, and that BIL wanted to make it 'a surprise', so thats how their surprise ended.

But overall we had a great (TIRING) weekend, a little stress, but Im sure the Spa Day will make up for it ! I CANT WAIT !

It's the thought that counts??? . Anna that was so funny..well I am sure it wasn't funny when you were rushing to get there, but it was funny reading it.

That was really sweet for both of them to do, it's just too bad they didn't give you a bit more notice.. at least a few hours would have been better. LOL
However it was a sweet idea and since they tried so hard pull it off I am sure they both get brownie points.

All that work shows how much they love you!!! Glad you have some fun though!

Good news, EA is allowing us to reschedule. We have 30 days !
I planned to use it right away anyway !
Theres NO WAY I would have paid for it if we never went. What are these people NUTS ??

Aw, the poor guys had the right intentions, so we give them a big fat A for that!!! Sorry you and your sister got stuck in that horrible traffic, but at least you had a day out together and came home to more pampering!! And you get to do it again (tell them to go clean your house this time)!!
