So, last night I was out with FH getting some coffee and the BEST idea in the world came to mind (well, to ME it was the best idea)...why not begin making a list of things I'd like on our registry??? I mean, we have a blank slate (new home) to work with and need to fill it up with 'stuff'!!! So, I started a list....a general list with things like, 'wooden spoons, plates, silverware, Kitchen Aid Mixer, spatulas, pots and pans'..you know, all the stuff you need to cook it up! lol I stopped when I got to my 90th item lol
So here's my idea......I'm going to use this list and look on BBB and Linens and Things and Fortunoff, and start to choose brands, colors and amounts of each thing I want! Has anyone done this? I really think I came up with a great idea lol

actually when you go register they give you a list with EVERYTHING, they break it down by kitchen and they every little thing for a kitchen, even wood spoons, ladle's, baking pans and so on, bathroom and then a break down of everything you'll need, bedroom and so on...its actually about 2 pages or more long

I know fortunoff gives you a list and I'm sure other places do too. You could actually probably register for it now if you wanted to. No one will know about your registry until you tell them about it.

That's awesome! Thanks for the info. Now I can have fun choosing brands/colors/styles of things! I told FH that I want us to go in with a plan lol If not, between him and I, we are the two most indecisive people you'd ever meet! We'd wind up opening and closing down the store..multiple times!

That's true. I am nervous if I choose stuff now that it won't be available by the time I have a shower. I am not expecting a shower before March/April '08....that's 8-9 months away. Stores sell out of things or discontinue stuff all the time....it's a thought though still lol

at BB&B they automatically reg the 'wall' for u which is a ENTIRE stock of gadgets....
its GREAT!!!
and so is ur idea... for ppl who jsut need little essentials its a great thing to look into

Defintely! Whoever came up with the idea of bridal showers is a genius! lol Too bad someone couldn't invent a 'Housewarming Registry' lol That would be a really pricey list though!

that really is a great necessary idea...
one of my bm's also suggested for gifts to give ur favorite recipe and a gift card to whole foods... or packaged items to make that recipe....
def somethign ppl shoudl look into creating.

That's a really cool idea! One thing I want done at my shower, which FMIL did for FSIL's shower....she bought a nice address book and passed it around to each table and asked the head of each family to fill out their family name, address and phone number. What better way to start a 'family and friend' address book and prepare for holiday cards???

they send you letters once anything is discontinued. It gets annoying bc alot of times certain items won't be available to buy online but you can buy it at the store and i get mail from them alot.
