My own random post of the day:

Soft.

If something is, it is 'sofT.'

If is is more than others it's either 'sofTer' or the 'sofTest.'

Why, then if I wish to make something soft do I 'soffen' it? Why not 'sofTen' it? Why is it fabric 'soffener' instead of 'sofTener?'

This is what happens when you've been up since 4:30am.

Only because it's obnoxious to pronounce the letter T on purpose. Like duct tape always is duck tape. Because if you said DuckT, it would sound like you think you have something to prove.


In summary, the T is silent.
