My poor baby

My poor baby

He has a horrible diaper rash! He's never had a red butt a day in his life until now. He woke up crying I guess he peed in his sleep and it hurt like h*ll. We had not idea what was the matter but when I changed his diaper, he is sooooo red everwhere, which he wasnt when he went to bed at 8:00pm. And I learned the hard way that apparently the wipies do not feel good on it. The poor little guy couldnt even catch his breath while he was crying in pain. Of course Mommy feels horrible and I'm still very upset - his cry of pain was really really upsetting.

Any suggestions or advice? I cant believe how red he is.

LOTS of cream!!! Use a wet face cloth to wipe him. Let him go diaper free when you can. They'll be accidents but it will feel better on him.

And of course TLC!!

Awww Lukie ... I'm so sorry! Is Balmex good for diaper rashes? Also, a friend of my family uses vaseline after each diaper change and the baby has not had a diaper rash yet ... will that maybe help.

Elizabeth, Ryan came home from the hospital with the worst case of diaper rash you've ever seen - not even prescription cream cleared it up. He suffered for over a month, and every diaper change was a NIGHTMARE of screaming and crying...

Triple Paste helped a little bit - the pharmacist usually keeps it behind the counter. But the miracle cream my SIL in FLORIDA found for me. When she lived on LI, her son who is now in his teens had terrible terrible diaper rash. There is a pharmacy in Baldwin that makes there own cream...she called them and had it delivered right to my door in Massapequa -- it is an absolute MIRACLE!!! Cleared Ryan's rash up almost immediately!!! It's worth it's weight in gold to me!! It's called Diaper Comfort and it's made by Nassau Chemists - their number is 516.223.3333 -- I cannot recommend it highly enough. I have two jars and will only use it in an emergency, but I would go to the ends of the earth for it!! Good Luck - I know how horrible that is....

AWE, Poor Luke !!
Its so sad when they have that 'out of breath' cry

A few weeks ago, JA had a rash on the sides of his tushy and balmex wasnt doing the trick. so we winded up getting prescription cream and it worked well (if you want the name, I can get it) but im not sure if this rash was just plain old diaper rash being that it was on the sides
It cleared up in a day or two.

Everything the girls suggested here is what I'd say too. Fresh air (will get you a few wet carpet spots ) and balmex or desitin or A&D or vaseline.
I always use wet plain bounty paper towels if its a bad rash. I had that same experience

Hugs to Lukie!

Re: My poor baby

Thank you everyone so much for the suggestions. I have been washing him with a washcloth and water. Not wiping, just dabbing and blotting him clean. Aw! Right now Ive been trying the Zinc Oxide stuff but I may have to progress further if it doesnt clear up. I didnt know some of these other products existed. Tonight he's getting some tushy air time so I guess I'll be bringing out the rug cleaner tomorrow.

Re: My poor baby

He took an Aveeno bath tonight and some diaper free time. He had a good time with everything flapping in the breeze.

I think it might be something he ate. He did have something new yesterday. I made a pork roast and he had pork for the first time. My pediatrician said there were no restrictions on what he can eat so if it doesnt clear up, I'll see if it might have caused it.
