So , I had a completely horrible weekend. Besides personal issues, I had my printer completely spaz out on me.
I am pretty computer savvy, and I figured I would be able to just print the envelopes on the computer. I have done all sorts of printing , photos, invitations, and other projects before on it. I didn't see why this would be an issue.
So bottom line is, my printer kept shutting down and jamming the paper, and I got pissed off.
I wound up hand writting the envelopes as best as I could. (My mother has really nice handwriting, so she helped).
What I want to know is, do you think this is really, really tacky???
I mean, people are just going to throw them out anyway. I HAVE to send them out this weekend or else we will really be cutting it close.
Should I reall worry? Or should I just chalk it all up to technical malfunctions and be happy I got it done?

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
awww I'm sorry sweetie! And stuff like this always happens when you under the gun on time.
As far as tackiness, in my opnion having your mom write on the envelopes is fine. This is your wedding and the invites should be the least of your worries, they are just going to be thrown out (no offense) anyway so no need to fuss too much over them, just get them out as soon as possible. Hope things go a little bit better for you this week.

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
I am sorry you had such a bad weekend. I've been going through ridiculous printer problems, I actually went and purchased a new printer and I am still going insane with trying to print my envelopes. So I am going to hand write mine. Its too late for me to do anything other than hand write them. I think its fine to hand write them its an invitations its not the most important part of the wedding.

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
Honestly, it looks beautiful when they are printed but people will never ever ever remember that their invite was handwritten. Ever!

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
we had serious printer probs when doing ours too. We opted for labels, which came out great, but we had to buy a new printer. Seriously, no one will even CARE that they were handwritten... they are going in the garbage.

This is not tacky at all..my friend just got married..her envelopes were hand written - neatly and it looked fine... i just opened and ripped up the envelope anyway :) Her place cards were also handwritten neatly...noone is going to think anything if your envelopes are hand written.. no worries...

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
I think handwritten envelopes are beautiful. If you think about it, before printers, invitations were always handwritten.
Sorry to hear about your printer problems. I know how annoying and frustrating that can be, especially when you're on a deadline!!

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
No worries - not tacky at all. Just let it go.
You just gave me the idea to consider hand-writing mine, or at least signing it somewhere to give it a personal touch. Now that I think about it, everything computer-printed seems so removed.

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
sorry to hear u had a bad weekend. i don't think its a big deal if you ended up handwriting your invitations. some people pay a lot of money to have someone else hand write there invitations.

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
I wrote some and printed some. I even had custom stamps on the outer envelope and NO ONE noticed!! So my advice is do whatever is best for you. 99% of the people will not notice the envelope or addressing style.

not tacky at all.
i hand wrote all my invite addresses with script. as long as it's nice and neat, it should be fine.
i know it takes lots of time to make labels and hand feed through printers, but i personally like handwritten style..it's more my taste...and more 'personal to me'
im sure ppl will disagree but just my opinion!
gluck with it!

Re: My printer broke while doing the invitations
printers only break when you actually need them for something handwriting them is fine. no one is even going to notice the envelope
