my re-done ering stone is loose after 4 days!!!!!!

omg!! i feel so frustrated!!! so i posted about the other day about dings or scratches on my new redone e-ring and i finallychilled out when i learned it happens to most rings..and no big deal ...that i can get i polished etc.

the story is i got a new setting for my princess cut since my old band was too thin and the prongs were done incorectly.

i was soo happy on thursday when igot it and it was /is exactly what i want!!!!

but whilei was sitting here..i decided to 'tap' the ring. i heard you are supposed to hold it up to your ear and tap and if you hear a click it means the stone is loose.... correct? well anyhoo... yesterday no clicks and today its clicky!! even fi hears it!!

sooo... has anyone had this happen?? do i just take it back and tell them what??

totally bummed. i know its nt a big deal in the grand scheme of things..iw as just sooo happy and really trusted that this guy knew what he was doing. the whole reason i redid teh ring was bc i was afraid i would loose the stone with the old setting..and now this!!

okay done with the drama....
well maybe lol

But you know that post just made every bride on long island weddings take their ring off and tap it next to their ear. Bc i just did

Jen, what jeweler did you use? I think thats terrible. I must have missed that post, or maybe not. Hmmmmmmmm. I didn't know about the ring thing.

I would definitely get your ring checked out - it doesn't sound the quality is what you should expect out of it!

Did you have to get it sized after they did the setting? Sometimes that screws things up. And platinum's softer too (if that's what you used), mine's been loose twice already (in over a year) and from what I hear, it does happen with quite a bit of frequency. Take it back, I'm sure they'll fix it for free.

nope not resized and its white gold.
its a brand new band and setting.

ami correct that clicking is a bad sign??

Ohhhhhhh hahaha, I did that exact same thing!

Seriously though, a diamond is WAY too precious since it's a symbol of your love and WAY too expensive for you to just let it go!!!

If I were you, I'd march right back there and make them check it out. I am sooo sorry you have to deal with all of this drama but you'll thank yourself in the end for being so careful.

ughs!!! i hate this!!!! whats funny is yesterday i just called him to thank him so much for the fabu job he did!!!
he is gonna think i am a looney tune.

but seriously... if they didnt do it right the first time..how can i trust it wont get loose again?? i dont have to money to go somewhere else and redo the whole thing.

i'm sorry to hear this happened to you! i have had to get the setting 'tightened' once since i got my e-ring last march. i have a 3 stone ring, and the center stone is in a 4 prong basket setting (round cut), and my jeweler informed me that this setting can sometimes have the problem of getting a little loose, since if one is snagged then the fit isn't right with the other 3 prongs. (i had the tendency to snag it on my sheets or pillow at night) so now i take it off when i go to bed and haven't had any problems since.

i hope you can get this fixed and it doesn't happen again!!!!

Just tell him you would like him to check it, You think it is loose and you just want to be sure it is in tight. who cares what he thinks about you. And he should do it for free. Good luck

This definitely sounds like the work of a poor jeweler. Also, your scratches shouldn't really be there after one day; your stone should be tight. Sounds like perhaps you should look into someone new.

This happens. First-take the ring off and put it in a safe place. Call the jeweler and make an appointment to have the ring fixed. Explain how upset you are calmly. They should be able to fix it.

the first week i got my ring, it was clicking all over the place, one of my side stones was loose, take it back and have them fix it ASAP,unfortunately it happens

the jeweler was closed today.bc i drove there like a bat outtahell...and dang it closed on mondays!! i am going to try to go there tomorrow after work....

thanks for the support ladies..i feel silly being so upset since there are more important things in the world..but well..dang it ..its my ring!! lol

i know he will fix it .... but now my issue will be more paranoia clicking everyday! lol

oh lord, now i am going to be obsessed with tapping my ring!!!

definately go back and have them take a look at it. I am sure they will be more than happy to fix it for you and make you a happy customer!
