my ridiculous rehearsal ceremony...rant

So yesterday we all met with the priest who will be performing the ceremony and let me tell you, it was a bit of a circus. Firstly, for the procession into the church, he was going to walk in first with FH and I following behind him and the bridal party behind us and so on. Well, we nipped that in the bud right away. I had to explain to him that we're going to do it the traditional way where FH is down in front and I am the last to come in with my dad. Then there was craziness with what the bridal party was going to do. Sit or stand and when. I'm still confused on that part. Thank god I have my DOC, Rosalie, she's gonna tell everyone what to do exactly today. Now the wierdest part of the ceremony was when we rehearsed the exchanging of rings, he wanted FH to take my left wrist in his hand and hold it up for all to see while the priest recited something and I was to do the same. When he said that, I just looked at my DOC and she explained to him again that we're going to have a traditional wedding and won't be doing that. And when we got to the exchange of the rings, he wants FH to take my ring and as he says 'in the name of the father, the sun and the holy spirit Amen' he wants him to put the wedding wedding ring down each finger and on Amen it goes on my ring finger. Never heard of that before in my life. He would not budge on that. He kept saying that that's how it has to be done. My DOC just said that's fine and when she took us to the side told FH and I not to do it today as its not part of the traditional ceremony.
Also, the priest did not want to do the unity candle. He said we didn't need to do it. I told him yes we did because I bought the candles and I want to have that as part of my ceremony. And, when I was talking back and forth to the church and the pastor, I asked specifically if I need to pick a reading and he said we didn't because we are just having a ceremony. And last night the priest said we have to have one. And my final rant about my rediculous rehearsal is that he wanted FH and I to read the vows from the bible instead of him promting us what to say.
Cross your fingers for me that everything goes smoothly during my ceremony tonight.

That's.... crazy! I never heard of ANY of those things. We sure as heck didn't do them at our Catholic wedding!
