My ring, on display

My ring, on display

So today I did my ATS-P ( it is a test of teaching skills through video...you video tape yourself teaching, and then you ship it upstate to be evaluated). I asked my literacy coach to tape the class. During lunch we watched it together (which was a HORRENDOUS experience) and she kept telling me that she was looking for the perfect shot. I had no idea what she was talking about until I saw my e-ring sparkling as I was showing one of the kids how to use a Judy clock. My ring looked great and I just had my nails done on Friday. I have never laughed so hard! She got my ring in focus maybe 5 or 6 more times. Here I am, trying to take this video seriously and she is busy trying to show off my ring. Anyway, I will definitely get a french manicure for the wedding. It looked awesome on the video.

That's funny! I would be looking for my ring in the video. When I look at myself in the mirror I always look at my ring. I'm crazy!

I was one of the first group of teachers to be given the new state tests after the NTE was done away with. There were no study guides for the written tests and barely any guidelines for the video portions. I basically did it all COLD!

I did that video so many many years ago. I had already been working in my current setting - a school/day treatment center for seriously emotionally disturbed and learning disabled kids - for about 2 years already. I have two certifications in ELED and SPED. so I had no choice but to do my ELED video in a special ed setting. One of my kids had a breakdown, the microphone was near the window next to the playground so there was a lot of extraneous noise, and I was being observed by my educational supervisor that day as well.

One thing that I did find helpful was that in order to insure that the kids have enough individualized work time, I simply used a timer. They are used to timers because so many of them have OCD and cannot end a task without a concrete finish. I passed and have been permanently certified since 1998. I thank G-D that I never have to recertify as I am grandfathered in.
