I was just asked by my sister and one of my bm's for a list! Can you believe it? I know that somewhere has already been booked (I overheard my sister). So scary... things are getting closer.
Ok, now to my question... do I have to invite girlfriends of FI's friends that are in the wedding? I am not close to some of these women but am not sure if they should still be invited. Advice??

Re: My shower list
if you have nothing against them or any particular dislike, I would extend the invite. it's a nice gesture, and guarantees there are no hurt feelings.
btw- how COOL is it that your shower is being planned! I can't WAIT for mine! Congrats!!!

Re: My shower list
One more thing I just thought of... this is a little sticky.
FI was engaged once before. His ex-fiance who I know somewhat well is now married to one of his good friends. We have hung out with them but FI really dislikes her (I could take her or leave her). They will both be invited to the wedding because we have no choice. However, FI's mother really dislikes her and almost had a fit when she thought his ex was coming to visit him in the hospital last Dec. So my question is, do I invite her? I really don't want her there and I know that FI's mother definitely doesn't.

I say no- if this girl has any sense, she will figure out why.

I think you should only invite the women who are close to you. Definitely don't add someone you don't like!

I would invite all the girls except the EX because that might cause a scene with her and your FMIL

I wouldn't invite your FI's ex if that's how you all feel about her. But your FI's friend's GF's should be invited if they've been together for awhile. You can't invite the guys, so you have to invite their better halves!
Btw, it's soooo exciting that you're up to seriously thinking about your shower already!!!!!

Good point. I have a decent relationship with the ex. But when FI's mother thought she was coming to the hospital with her husband, FMIL freaked out. I have no doubt that FMIL would be civil and cordial, but I don't want to put anyone in that situation.

I wouldn't invite the ex-fiance, but I would invite the girlfriends of his groomsmen. I just gave my list to my sister yesterday

Well - how many people are you inviting to your wedding. TYpically, it's all of the close females, and girlfriends/wives of close males.
We are inviting 182 people to the wedding and I think my sister/mom are inviting about 72 women.
