my shower review (long) link to pics!!!
My shower was yesterday!!!! I knew about it all along so it wasnt a surprise, but everything my mom did was a surprise!!!! it was at a firehouse that fh's family is pretty involved in, it worked out because they have a huge nice room, kitchen bar etc..... my mom had the food catered, I dont remember the name of the place but the food was amazing!!!! if anyone is interested in a caterer, fm me and i will find out. EVERYONE ate sooo much food it was great! fmil got a napolean (sp) cake that was to die for, the cake was HUGE and there were only 3 pieces left at the end of the day hahahah....
the day was so beautiful, and a bit of a blur!! we had over 60 people there, unfortunately 5 or so didnt come due to illness etc. the day of, but it was still such a blast! the night before my shower FH got me a beautiful arrangement of 13 white calla's, i was so excited!!! ok here are some details.... i will try to post pics, i only have the ones from my camera, I will add more later when i get them!
my mom had wrapped 35 gifts for our guests, in addition to their votive candle favors. the gifts ranged from candles, to fountains to cook books. apparently she has been collecting them forever and all the guests flipped!!! fh's cousin said she was leaving w/ more than she came with hahahahah!!!
the first game was a 10 questions trivia game about fh and i, ranging from when we got engaged to what fh's favorite hockey team is, etc. etc. people had a blast, whoever finished the fastest and got the most right, got to pic a gift.
the second game was a jumbled word game w/ words having to do w/ weddings, ranging from bride to clergyman (no one got that one lol). again the fastest person w/ them all right got to pic a gift from the table!
then we started opening up gifts!!! there were soooooo many!!!!! my mom had one of her friends set a timer for random amounts of time, 3 minutes, 5, 10 etc. and whoever's gift i was opening when the timer went off, they won a gift!!! that was great because soo many people won prizes and it kept everyone interested!!!
the cp's were birdhouses that she found at fortunoffs, she made a ring of moss and flowers and ivy and put the bird house on that ring.... w/ an organza bag of bird feed tied w/ a pink ribbon in the center. the guests were practically fighting over the cp's hahahaha. the person at the table whose bday was closest to our wedding day got to keep the birdhouse.
the final 'game' was so great! my mom had a huge jar and filled the jar w/ those valentine's day candy hearts w/ the sayings on it....the guests had to write their name on a piece of paper w/ the amount they thought was in the jar. people had a blast w/ this and the guesses ranged from all sorts of #'s. the first prize was a fountain that you put a candle in the middle... it was beautiful!!! there were 4,183 hearts in the jar!!!!![]()

the woman who won was so excited!!! it was so nice that they got to open gifts too! there was also a 2nd and 3rd place prize for that game.
there were pink and white flowers everywhere, and we had my uncle stick around to man the bar... what a lucky guy

mimosa's were flowing ALL day, and i am a little embarassed because all of the pics of me i have that damn pink cup in my hand!!!!!hahahah
my mom had guests fill out the recipe cards which is great, because we both love to cook. she also had a wishing well for me, and one for fh. her neighbor, who is sooo crafty, made them. one was a hamper bride, and the other was a garbage pail groom. it was nice cause fh got a few tools, gloves, flashlight, bar drinks book, cologne, etc. etc. i got great utensils, lotions, my aunt made me home made ornaments w/ pics of us on them, cork screws and some naughty things as well!!!! the wishing wells were one of the best parts of the shower!!! I love all of those little tchochkis.
everyone was just so so very generous, we got soooo many great gifts. we got 4 of our 5 pieces of our delsey luggage![]()

, my boss got us 3 of them!!!!!! fmil got me my birdcage and she decorated it beautifully, she also got us adorable bride and groom hats..... AND she got us our Dyson animal![]()

my aunt got us our kitchenaid mixer!!!! i was sooooo excited!!! fh's aunt had our pots and pans delivered before the shower, but at the shower she also gave us 2 huge bins filled w/ christmas ornaments and decorations... it was great. my MOH got me a bunch of great gifts, one being all of my wedding day makeup from mac!!!!
we had only one duplicate gift. i just cannot believe how amazingly generous everyone was, and i have no idea where we are going to store all of these gifts in our teeny tiny house!!!!
I gave my mother the lenox mothers loving touch figurine at the end of the shower, it was the only time she cried all day.... it was really very sweet though.

ETA: my bridesmaids were amazing!! they helped my mom so much w/ decorating the night before and the day of.... they ran around collecting the games etc. they helped me with my gifts, my moh got all of them, one helped open them, one did the hat and taped the cards to the boxes and one wrote down what everyone got us!! it was so smooth and awesome. I am so lucky to have a great group of girls who all get along and are so amazing!!!!!
