I know this puts a damper on things, but don't lose sight of the fact that you are marrying the man you love that day. I know that it is hard, but you can't let her ruin your wedding: it is your day, not hers. Go with the flow, ask someone else to step in and enjoy yourself. She is the one who will look foolish that day, not you.

Elizabeth,

It is a wonderful feeling to have that task accomplished. Wait till you I find yourself running home every day to check the mail for responses.. it is a riot..enjoy it

Michelle,

I feel so bad, that's awful that it happened. But you are handling it very well or so it seems. Your FI and future SIL, sound very supportive. I wish you better luck in your relationship with your sister for the future. And despite all I hope you enjoy your Bridal Shower.

I'm sorry to hear this. It's a shame because you would hope that people would be happy for you and supportive and sometimes they are so incapable of doing it. I have some of my own family issues so I have been going through trying to accept that people, even family & friends, can't be there. I say 'can't' instead of 'won't' because surely if your sister was capable of seeing how angry, bitter and selfish she is being we can only hope that she would not consider behaving like this. It doesn't excuse the hurt that she is inflicting but sometimes it helps with the acceptance. I really am sorry to hear it and hope that you can find some peace on it and not let it ruin this wonderful time in your life.

If I can just add..

...try to focus instead on the wonderful kindness of the many others that are there and supportive of your life and dreams.

I am also having a problem with my MOH. I took my bridemaids shopping during the Thanksgiving break. Even though my wedding isnt until Nov 4, 2001, I felt we should do it early esp since it was the only time my sister would be in town from Europe before the wedding. Anyway...I gave them plenty of notice that we would be getting the dresses on that day. We found a dress (only $130) at Davids bridal. My MOH didnt have the money to pay for her dress on that day so I bought it. She said at the time that she would pay me back but she hasn't yet done so. I dont know if I should be mad or what. Should I ask for it...I am amd that I even have to. I know she was upset that she doesnt have a different style or color than the others since she is the MOH. I didnt want this...I told her I would acknowledge her with a bigger bouquet. She didnt seem happy about this but its still not a reason not to pay up on the dress. What should I do?
