Some of you know that Gabe was having some side effects to what I thought was the meds he was on for pneumonia. Well hes still having them after stopping the meds on the 19th. The doctor thinks he is having seizures and I have to take him to Schneiders Childrens Hospital in Commack. Do any of you know anything about seizures?

The SCH in Commack is a consultation center. Some of the neurologists keep a few hours a month there. I work at SCH and work pretty closely w/ there neuro dept (they frequently refer pts to us). It sounds like they will be doing a video EEG with your son and it does sound like he had a seizure. Good luck with everything!

Thank you everyone... The doctor said Schneiders will make us stay a whole day and video tape him all day.. I would rather video tape him myself but he said they need to measure brain waves during that time?

It's called an EEG (Electroencephalograph) that measures brain activity. He'll have a bunch of wires attached to his head. Don't worry it doesn't hurt its just awkard. They use a special adhesive to keep the wires in place. He'll just need a good shampoo afterword.

Hope everything goes well. I don't know too much about seizures but I bet someone on here can probably hook you up with more information.

The seizures didnt happen once. They have happened pretty much daily since the 19th (the day he was ringbearer in a wedding) He had pneumonia the week before that. Thats why I thought it was from the meds.

Did your MD rule out meningitis and or septicaemia?

Was he taking the meds during the time of the seizure? I took aleve and 2 hours later the 'seizure' occurred.
I am no dr. but plz keep us posted!

Hes had many of these episodes. Not just once and only the first one was during medication. That DAY I stopped giving him the meds but he is still having him 2 or 3 weeks later.

thanks for all the FM girls. Ill keep you updated. We have to wait 1 -2 months for an appointmenet Im told. :( How do I wait that long to know whats wrong with my baby!!

If you go directly to SCH in New Hyde Park they can get you in quicker. Commack is only a consultation center and the neurologiss don't keep that many hours there (that's why the long wait).
