My sorority sisters...

My sorority sisters...

So I pledged a sorority at NYU and for the most part my sorority sisters are some of my closest friends. There are about 7 girls that I am really close with.

Problem:

I don't want them all in my bridal party. It would just make it WAY too big b/c I would already have a bridal party of about 5 girls.

I need to find a special way to incorporate them in my wedding. I know that if they weren't included they would be really hurt.

When my dad passed away in December it really revealed to me who my true friends are and aren't. These girls were awesome.

Help please... any ideas...

My best friend is a guy and I really wanted to include him as well and didn't expect FH to ask him as a groomsman (plus that also would be too large of a BP). I asked him to read a poem or something else during the ceremony.

You could ask them all to read something, each one getting a line. I've seen it done before and it can be really elegant.

Re: My sorority sisters...

can u/they do a special sorority song at the wedding? i know my sorority does this (althuogh it won't be happening at mine) there is something that we do to recognize weddings like that. or something even smaller would be to have them all wear u'r sorority colors, and a special pin that u give them for the day and sit together.. that might be enough.. everyone else would recognize them as being 'special' becasue they all have on that particular color...

good luck!

(when my dad passed i found my true friends also.. what r u doing for u're father/daughter dance?)

iwannabemrsd,

I LOVE the pin idea. I thought about having them wear the same colors. For my father daughter dance (trying not to think about that too much) I think I'll dance w/ bro.

I have to find something special for my girls.
thanks.

Please share your thoughts...

I am really stressing this. I am going to a sister's bday brunch today and I just now they are all going to be talking about me getting married. I know of 3 girls who def want to be bridemaids and have said it directly to me. but I also know that if you ask one sister you have to ask them all. how am i going to incorporate them in my wedding? help please.

If you found that they weren't there when you need them most then I wouldn't make them read or anything that would be reserved for family or other special people. Can they give out programs or birdseed...

Oh, the girls were most definetely there for me when I needed them the most. That's why I really want them to have a special role. hmmm.... I know the ppl on this board are super creative and can hep me find a way to incorporate these girls.

Are you doing any sort of special entry into your reception, like a tunnel or something? or exiting the church? Perhaps they could all form that arch together, and dress similarly?

What I am doing at my weddign to honor my sorority sisters is as each one enters the ceremony, someone will hand them a pink rose, our sorority flower. This way they are given something from me and FH to symbolize their closeness to me without an actual BM bouquet. Other then that, they are just regular guests. I will have the photographer take a sorority picture at the wedding with the girls that are there.

Love it Kris!

That's a good idea w/ the roses. I think I'll do somethng like that and have individuals doing readings. :)
