This is the second time I did whitening. The first time it didn't bother me at all, but this time my bottom tooth is killing me. I think its because its a little chipped, though I am surprised my dentist didn't point that out before doing it. Anyhow my gums hurt slightly but that tooth is killing me.
I am a little concerned.
I mean my dentist was my dad's best man, so I am not super concerned. But pain in my tooth is concerning.

Ugh, I'm sorry. I did read though that teeth whitening can cause pain, especially if they weren't careful with the gel and some got on your gums. Plus, I believe the more its done, the more the enamel gets stripped, and the more sensitive your teeth get. Unfortunately...I think pain is just part of the package deal.

i work at a dentist office and just did a zoom whitening on a patient who was in so much pain and others i do have no pain at all...we tell our patients to use sensodyne toothpaste before and after the procedure

Mine hurt too from the whitening trays. Every once in a while I get a sharp shooting pain in one of my bottom teeth out of no where.....and then it passes....ahhhh the price for beauty!! If it persists, I would call your dentist.

My teeth really hurt me when I did the whitening. It lasted a day. I just took lots of advil. When I woke up the next morning, it was over.
My dentist told me to use sensodyne toothpaste for a few days which definitely helped.

I did the teeth whitening also and they gave me this gel stuff to put on them if they hurt and it works very very well. I also used special sensativity tooth paste.

Keep in mind each time you whiten, you are stripping away your enamel and weakening your teeth. Dentists NEVER tell you this but the more you whiten, the more susceptible your teeth are to getting stained again and yellower, so then you whiten more and more and more b/c you want to keep that original look you had and thats inpossible without maintaining atleast once a year.
Pain in the teeth is normal, especially if this is your second time, brush with sensodyne, and use the rinse 'ACT', its a flouride rinse and will help fill up the pourous holes in your teeth caused by the bleach (and if used daily will prolong the white look of your teeth). Try to stay away from red wine, red sauce and coffee for atleast 2 weeks or more.
