my tux debacle - long sorry
I see a lot of tux Q's so I thought I would post this so ppl will know how to handle these situations
we have put a deposit at a bridal store we found which operates out of the White Plains mall (not the best idea we had thinking back) b/c they had a very great sale.
we were promised to get the tuxes in on Wed before our Sun wedding. we asked numerous times and were reassured each and every single time that yes they will be in by Wed.
come the week of the wedding, I called to ask if the tuxes are on their way on Tues, 'nope' is the answer I get. I asked why they said b/c its the prom season so its very very busy
so I say this is exactly why we put a deposit almost 5 months before so we would have them in time w/o stress. 'nothing we can do, they will be in by Fri'. DH even went there in person to talk and they told him Fri and there will be no issues w/the tuxes and to trust them.
on Fri we go there at 3PM as the tuxes came in at 12PM, all of them were WRONG SIZES AND LOOKED AWFUL. my BM's, dad, and DH all looked like Charlie Chaplin's (not exaggerating). plus the quality was so poor that homeless ppl have better stuff on than these tuxes.
by this point its 4PM on a Fri and the sales lady starts calling up the HQ that they messed up the order. at this point I had absolutely no faith that they will get them right the 2nd time around so I called a bridal place in Larchmont to see if they will be able to get in this rushed order in. they said yes.
we rushed there and got there at 5PM and the guys picked out their tuxes which came in very early on Sat and looked awesome! they were all done w/alterations by 3PM on a Sat.
I cannot describe what a mental and physical pressure this put on us just 2 days before the wedding! I was crying hysterically and DH got a very bad rash all over his face and developed a nervous twitch
we ended up paying WAAAAY more than we could afford or planned on the tuxes b/c of this whole fking mess
so I guess my advice is to always have a back up place that u could go to if this (G-d forbid!!!!) happens to u
