My visit with Burton's
I went to Burton's on Saturday to finalize flowers. The meeting went very well, we met with Michael for 1 hour. He is acutally pretty easy-going and isn't the salesperson type that I thought I would be intimidated by. Because I was worried about how to be clear of what I want and that they wouldn't get it right on my wedding day, I printed out some of the negative posts but I did not show them to him and didn't even bring them up.
I had a few changes from my original contract, but everything evened out, so the price is the same. They had a sample (which I wasn't expecting until right before my wedding) and Michael was very helpful and accomodating with changing things around. Since I didn't have a pic of my cneterpiece, he kept going in the back and getting stems of flowers for me to try out in place of some of the flowers in the sample. So, I had him write down on the contract that I don't want much filler and that the greens should only be at the base of the vase (which is how the sample was) and no baby's breath. I also talked about the freshness of the flowers and asked for budding flowers, and he didn't have any problem with this (it seems that they are buds in the morning and open up in a couple of hours).
Overall, I am not nervous about using them, our centerpieces are simple arrangements in bubble vases (he reminded me that the votive candles should be at least 6 inches away, so that the flowers don't get limp) and I think it would be hard to mess it up. My boquet is 18 mini callas so that would also be difficult to mess up. Also, unlike so many other things in my wedding, I have to remind myself that flowers are natural, living things, that are not machine made and therefore, you can't control every detail about it!!
We see our exact samples 5 days before the wedding day. Can't wait!
