My Wedding
Sorry it`s taken me some time to finally post this but anyway here goes... We got married on August 10th, the week New York had a heat wave. To all the brides I have one advice to give..don`t fret over things that you have no control over, the weather being one of them. It was over 95 degress the entire week and all along I thought our church had air conditioning. We found out the night of the rehearsal (the night before the wedding)that it didn`t. So while it was 95 degrees outside, it was 103 degrees inside the church. The next day, our wedding day, it was another hot day with heavy thunderstorms in the afternoon. To make a long story short, by the time I was ready the rain arrived and I couldn't get out of the house. At this point I just pretty much gave up and realized that no matter how much I stressed about it, things will happen you can't control and the best thing to do is go with the flow. I'm so glad I did! I just got our proofs back from the photographers and in all the pictures of me holding my dress up so as not to get it wet and being covered by two umbrellas, I was smiling! Everyone was impressed and so was I! It would really have been ugly if my pictures had me frowning or even crying! It's your day whether it rains or shines and the point is people will be there for you no matter what. You are the bride and you will be beautiful! By the time the ceremony was over I was ready to party! I figured what ever happens will happen and I intended to enjoy myself. It's also good to keep in mind that you're the only one that will notice if something goes wrong. No one else has a clue on what to expect so they won't even notice. The Crest Hollow did an excellent job! Everyone was impressed with the food and service. The cocktail hour I was told had so much food that people thought that was the party. They didn't realize there was still dinner afterwards. Our band, Heart & Soul, was very good. They not only performed but entertained. Everyone was up dancing the whole night! I'm still getting calls from people raving about the band! Royalty Limousine also did a great job. They arrived at my house 2 hours before their scheduled time because they were concerned about the weather and traffic. And they didn't even charge me for it! Pierce, our drive, took it upon himself to be 2 hours early. They even took over lining up the bridal party for the procession. I highly recommend them to anyone still looking for limousines. We also had a string trio at the ceremony that was the talk of the party. They played background music throughout most of the ceremony so you don't have dead silence when the priest isn't speaking. They really set the mood at the church and it definitely made everyone feel a little cooler in the hot church. Our photographers were also excellent! Tony from Wedding Group One was very easy to talk to and his pictures are very creative. I have over 600 proofs and it's difficult for me to choose only 50 for our album. All the pictures are great! I could go on and on if you really want me to but there's just not enough space on this screen. If you have any questions please feel free to email me at [email protected] and I'd be happy to help. Just remember to smile and have fun! You're photographers will be taking pictures of you without you realizing it and the last thing you want are pictures of you frowning!

Congratulations... and questions
Glad to hear you had a beautiful day in spite of the weather. I am having my reception at the Crest Hollow next year, and it is always nice to hear when someone has a good experience at the place you booked ! What rooms were you in for the cocktail hour and reception? Did you add anything to the cocktail hour?

Sounds like a wonderful day.
That is great that you enjoyed your day and didn't let anything get you down. It goes so quickly and you had a great day because of all your planning and good spirits. Congratulations. Where was the honeymoon? Any last minute (don't forget to) tips for brides-to-be. I am just two weeks away.

Congratulations... and questions
Originally, our cocktail was to be outside by the pool. But because of the weather, we moved it inside. I'm not sure what room they used. I didn't even bother to ask. I think it was a room upstairs. Our reception was in the Emerald Room on the first floor. It was gorgeous at night! I didn't add anything extra to the cocktail hour. We stuck to the menu they gave us when we first booked them. All in all everyone was impressed with the Crest Hollow. They made the affair very elegant. Enjoy your planning. Time has a way of slipping by without you noticing.

Sounds like a wonderful day.
Don't forget to delegate some of the tasks to others! The one thing I forgot to do in all the planning is to ask people for help. I planned on using the flowers from the church to decorate our table at the reception. I forgot to ask someone to take charge of bringing the flowers to the reception and had to look for help right after the ceremony. Also, make sure someone goes through the church after the ceremony to make sure nothing was left behind. We almost forgot the bible that has been in my family for generations as well as the unity candle. Good thing our best man and the right idea and took it upon himself to look around. Although it's your day, people are more than willing to help you. Don't be afraid to ask for their help. It may even make them feel special that they are able to help. Our honeymoon was in Hawaii (Kauai and Maui) for 10 days. Everyone seems to be going there. Everyone you looked there were newlyweds! We had a great time.

Maria - My sister's wedding was Aug 10 also
I totally understand what you were saying about not being able to control things. Our church wasn't airconditioned either. The rain kind of worked with us all day (in her favor thank god). We did get some umbrella pictures too. My date is Aug 9th 2002. Hopefully it will a little nicer out! Congratulations! I'm glad you had a good time!

My Wedding - KJean
We were lucky enough and the rain stopped by the time the ceremony was over. We had pictures taken by the pool at the Crest Hollow and they turned out beautiful! I was a little disappointed that we weren't able to take advantage of their beautiful gardens but everything else turned out great. Don't worry about the weather. Just have fun and everything will work out!

My Wedding
My wedding was at the Crest Hollow, and it was raining during the entire morning hours. So, our 'family' and 'bridal party' shots were taken inside, in one of the reception rooms, with a curtain as a backdrop. The pictures came out beautiful, because they can then actually control the lighting. We, too, were lucky, because during the reception, the sun came out and we were able to take advantage of the gardens, and got some great outdoor shots. However, for those 'romantic' shots with your hubby, if the rain doesn't stop, you could probably get some great shots on the staircase, in the lobby (by the flowers or piano), in the Emerald Room (if it's not taken), or any other portion of Crest Hollow. Even the driveway (which is covered, I believe) can be beautiful if done right. Good luck and you've booked a quality place. Don't worry. Congrats!Welcome New Vendors
