i planned my LI wedding from Indiana (it helped that my mom and MoH are on LI). My advice is to use your time in NY carefully. Do a lot of research online and narrow down the list of vendors you will see next time you are in NY. Try to get quotes over the phone - might be hard, but tell them you are oot. Also make sure that your vendors are internet saavy that way they will communicate with them through email.
this site can be very helpful too. But maybe not as much for NYC brides

when you come and visit to meet with your vendors try to book as many appts in one weekend... this way you can get a lot done... also expln to your vendors you are planning out of state so that you need to get as much done as possible in one meeting... all pymts you can usually mail in...

Plan a few trips and book lots of appointments at one time. I have my sister and my mother helping me out but that's not always easy either. I took some advice about vendors here. But basically I didn't choose from a lot. I chose to meet with about 2 or three vendors and then made my decisions. I haev butterflies in my stomach...

hey, I am also getting married on the same date as you and in NYC! Where are you getting married? So many people plan weddings from out of state, don't let it stress you!

I planned my wedding from Chicago. It really helps to be organized. During your trips to NY make sure you make your appt ahead of time, call vendors to weed them out before meeting with them. Try to schedule appts with vendors in the same area around the same time.

Good Luck! It can be stressful, but definitely possible. This site is a great resource.
