So today I was trying on wedding bands as i have been doing a lot lately and like usual I had the jeweler check my ring and clean it...turns out the center stone is alittle loose and one of the side stones actually moved (he pushed against it)..So now I'm freaking out and I'm afraid to wear it! I have to take it back to my own jeweler to have it tightened..but i don't want to be without it especially with the holidays on the way..anyone else know how long this takes usually?

Re: My worst nightmare....
my jeweler told me it would only take a day or two (but that could be because we know the owner), but hopefully it wouldn't take too long. it also depends if they fix it there or if they send it out to be fixed.

why don't you call the jeweler and tell him your concern and see if he can get it back to you before the holidays come around

YIKES! That's on my list of things to do this week. Get to the jewler and have him check my setting. I've been hearing too many girls talk about how loose their rings are on here lately. I just hope any jewlery store will do it for me... FH got my ering upstate........

how much does this cost?
I didn't think i had to do something like that for a while. Been only engaged for three months. I don't have a big stone but it does stick out of the setting and i am careless. Now i am scared!!!

Don't be scared just have it checked once in a while...I have hit my ring numerous times, and it has taken some pretty rough blows...best piece of advice is to check it with tweezers everytime you hit it..or by a jeweler

Re: My worst nightmare....
One of my prongs actually broke last month, cracked right down the middle. The jeweler was able to re-set the diamond and give the whole thing a thorough cleaning in about 20 minutes (and this wasn't even the jeweler where FH bought my ring, it was just one a few blocks from my house). It cost $15, which is apparently pretty cheap - it's normally about twice that, or a little less.

Re: My worst nightmare....
I was sooooo paranoid about a diamond swap myself. They took it into the back to do the re-setting, and I (paranoid as I am) examined the ring for a really long time when I got it back. I'd know mine anywhere! All I do when I'm bored in class is sit around and stare at it!
I have a solitaire setting, though, so I can't be of help there - I don't know if the process is different for side stones. All I know is my diamond was loose, and they fixed it in 20 minutes for $15.

haha i do the same thing...but im still paranoid about that..and if i take it to my own jeweler they have to take it to a repair shop in the city and it will take way to long

Re: My worst nightmare....
Holy I thought that there was only something wrong with mine. I wear it everyday but I am so scared that my stone is going to fall out.
Can this happen if it is a 6 prong ring? If I shake my hand I hear it clink a bit. I dont want to drop my ring off anywhere and leave it.
Anyone in eastertn suffolk know of a place where I can go to get it tightened while I watch?
