my worst vendor experience so far
i feel bad that my first post here is a long and venting one~~~ but i haven't been able to get over my frustration since last week ---
i knew the makeup artist from some distant acquitance.. the first time we met, she sem very nice and gave me a reasonable quote as well for an 'all day' package for me, moms and BMs.
so i was all happy and ready to book with her just thought i'd do a trial for my own peace of mind.
so i went --
1) the most unbearable part is she kept picking on my looks. i know i'm not a model or anything but isn't a makeup artist supposed to make you feel confident and pretty?
she did it NONSTOP, from my face, eyes, nose, skin --- everything was looking fat and awful in her mind. she even laughed at me. saying my face was too fat and i told her i'd lose a couple of pounds before the wedding so i'd look better in pics. She simply laughed and said no your face would be as fat as it is no matter how much weight you lose. maybe part of it is a joke but i'm really quite offended.
I kept telling myself being a makeup artist, that's probably her job to notice the imperctions and correct them. but seriously i felt awful during and after the trial!
2) she had handed me a namecard which read: airbrush specialist. So i took it for granted she'd airbrush. which she didn't do on the trial. i asked her (in a tone of confirmation) so you'd do airbrush on my wedding day? she said, no it's too big to bring. i said, we'll pick you up on the way. she said, this worked just as fine. we went back and forth several times, and she still wouldnt' do it.
Then i said i guess if you watch out during the reception and give me some touchups througout we can do without air brush ( i know i should have stopped there) and she said, i'm not staying for the full day. best i can do is to stay unti lthe end of the ceremony. i was completely shocked by then and asked her about her promise of the 'full day package' when we first met? she just went silent and turned away!
I would have never gone to her knowing her price quote was not airbrush and full day service!! i can't believe she just lied to my face.
3) when we went to the hair part, i pointed out a style to her that i liked. it does look a bit complicated. she wouldn't admit she couldnt' do it and simply said, it won't look good on you. your face is too fat. I beg your pardon?! i requested three times and she refused to try it.
she ended up doing a really simple one for me, just with hair pins, in 10minutes. Also when we did the makeup she pulled out this can of used lipgloss and applied directly onto my lips!! with no new disposable applicator. i felt appaled and disgusted!
This is really my worst experience so far. and too sad it happened on someone i knew and thought i could trust. when she finished, she asked me if i wanted to book her and to be polite i said, i need to think about it. 'then pay me now' she said. I swear it's not for the money. I've paid for other trials. but I really hated to pay this time and i have to.
so that's it.. i hope my other trials would turn better. however given that i've been in talks with her for over a month wihtout trying the other artist. i lost precious time to book them! i fear all the good asian ones are all booked!!![]()
