What's really the difference between a latte and a cappucino???

I think the difference is the ratio of coffee to milk. Lattes have more milk per ounce in them than a cappucino. And actually, I think they are made with espresso - and an au lait is made with regular coffee. But I could be totally wrong.

You're not really supposed to answer.....just ponder!

Actually, I just looked it up. Both start off with a shot of espresso, cappuccino's are then topped up with the foam from the steamed milk, lattes have the actual milk, then a shorter head of the foam...

a latte has virtually no foam whereas a cappy has a layer of foam

A further mystery is the price of them at Starbucks
