Nail Help

Nail Help

I need nail help for the wedding. I usually get clear when I go for manicures because a color just looks horrible on my natural nails. So I was thinking about doing tips for the wedding with permanent french, but I'm not sure. I really don't want to kill my nails, but I want them to look nice for the wedding.

Any advice on what I should do??? And a good nail place, I'm in west hempstead, thanks

Re: Nail Help

I had on fake nails a few weeks ago, hated it, i think its a personal preference.

I do remember mirabella, posting about the nails she got for the wedding and they were beautiful, maybe fm her asking her where she got them done.

eta: i hated it bc my nails didn't hold to them, i was constantly breaking them!

Re: Nail Help

I used to have silk wraps with permanent french up until this summer and took them off so they could 'breathe'.........

I have had on regular fake nails and those really damaged my natural nails. I think the silk wraps did too but not nearly as much as the fake nails did!!

I am considering putting the wraps on again with perm french a few months before! I want them to look nice for the wedding plus I want them to look nice for the HM.....if I get a reg mani, I would prob have them all chipped during the HM.....wraps will last!!!

Re: Nail Help

permanent french doesnt mess with your nails half as much as tips, wraps, etc. its still not wonderful but they will grow out nicely and will look great and very natural for the wedding, i go to a place in queens but i know a friend goes someplace really good in garden city which shouldnt be too far from you. ill get the name if you'd like.

eta: i also dont love how color looks on my nails past the first two days or so (it chips very very fast on me).

you could also do french regular mani, did you not want that?

I think there is a Dashing Diva in LI (Great Neck) but they have something called Virtual Nails ($35) they last for 2 weeks, no need to soak off, and they do not destroy the nail bed. They are individually custom fit to your own nail bed and look so natural.

ive been to dashing diva before. pretty cool!! i only left the nails on a little under 2 weeks, then i went and had them soaked off....they actually dissolved off of my nail in the solution!! the nail bed was a little damaged (i have to admit)...but nothing like the old acrylic tips

Re: Nail Help

I would suggest Nail Touch on the corner of Hempstead Turnpike and Rintin St (right by A&S bagels). My mom has been going there for years and last time I had tips/wraps that is where I went. I am going there tomorrow to get permanent french so make sure I like the way they will look for the wedding. I can let you know how they turn out.

That's EXACTLY what my mom said about the HM and my nails. I'm going to be getting perm french for the wedding and going to my FSIL's nail place that she goes to in East Meadow. It's a speciality for them! If you want the info for that just FM me and I'll get it from her!

I go to Ivy Nails on hempstead turnpike in franklin square - just east of jefferson st (and it's a few blocks east of franklin ave, but west of A&S)

I usually get a natural pink-ish color on my nails and keep them very short b/c I am on the computer all day, but I will prob get some sort of tip for the wedding with a french. I am very interested in these Dashing Diva ones though...there's a bunch in NYC - I might have to do a test run!

Re: Nail Help

I'm putting tips on about a month before the wedding, that way my nails have a little time to grown into them first. This way they'll also be nice for the RD, since it's the week before the wedding. Then I'll get them filled in the day before, and they'll be good for the wedding and the HM.

My sister is a professional manicurist, so I go to her.....she works from home

I used to go to Ivy Nails, but then one time I had tips put on there and they started to pop off that night. I was not happy with them and haven't gone back since. Although that was about 8 years ago, so I'm sure it won't happen to someone else.

I am wondering the same thing. I have heard that the UV gel french is supposed to be better for your nails than tips or wraps. They can also do acrylic over your regular nails and not add tips. I would just stop in the place and explain what you are looking for and see what options they are...
