I'm totally clueless when it comes to manicures and nails. I do them myself normally and they aren't real long. What would you ladies recommend me doing day of? I'm going to get them done, but what do I ask for? I wouldn't object to having them a little longer....but nothing crazy. This may seem like a silly question...but I am really clueless!

Re: Nail question
Just talk to them when you get there. I just went my first time not to long ago. Normally they will file your nails into a square shape with out asking. Found that out the hard way so if you want them rounded let them know.

ITA! Tell them what you prefer. Short, round, square, less sharp etc. I love getting UV gel. You can choose from many colors or even get a french manicure. To me it looks the most natural, as it's not much thicker than nailpolish. It cost more than a regular manicure but you wont have to worry about your nails chipping for 2+ weeks. Prices range from 25.00-45.00 depending on where you go and what you want. Just make sure you go somewhere CLEAN. I get my nails done by a girl named June at Aroma Nails in Selden-they are very clean and use an autoclave machine on all their instruments (it's a machine hospitals use to disinfect). Good luck!

Re: Nail question
I am planning on getting permanent french acrylic nails. I've had them before & they look gorgeous! You don't need to worry about nail polish chipping bc there is no nail polish & they last approx 2-4 weeks depending on how fast your nails grow

They are very similar - IMO the shellac comes off a little bit easier, but I only had the gel once or twice - I hated the removal process. After that I switched to shellac and it seems to be a little bit better (but it might just be because I switched nail salons and maybe the techis better at it). But either one is definitely worth it for your wedding - you don't have to worry at all about chipping (and if you're leaving for your HM right after, it will last for that too).

Re: Nail question
I'm the exact same way - never had my nails done, they're short and I rarely paint them myself. I'm planning on letting one of my friends drag me in and they can tell the person what to do. I don't care, as long as my hands aren't a hot chalky teacher mess in my photos

Re: Nail question
Does UV Gel make your nails longer at all or do they just put it over your existing nail? Because my nails are really strong and they grow fast but I don't like them long at all, even for my wedding I want them short-ish. And then you can pick the color you want on them? I've never had the Gel done before. Thanks!

Nope it doesnt make them longer. I keep mine short too :) There are lots of colors to choose from.

Re: Nail question
This post was made for me!!! I have been thinking about getting a gel manicure for a few weeks now. I love the look of manicured nails but hate chipping and hate going every week. My one concern is the removal process. Do I have to go back to the salon to get it off? Can I do it at home myself? Will my nails look horrible after?

Re: Nail question
I have the best way to get it off-take cotton balls and soak them in acetone polish remover. Then put the cotton ball on a finger and wrap it with tinfoil-securing the soaked cotton ball to your finger. Repeat with all of the fingers and let it sit for 20-30 minutes. It will come off that way without damaging your nails.
