Re: Nails
What town are you looking for? Do you want to do the foever french, silk wraps,or just manicures? I know a woman in Dix Hills/Huntington area who does amazing nails . I think her salon is Aviance (SP) I used to work with her. Shes a little pricey but worth it.

Re: Nails
Tips are actual plastic looking,nail-shaped things that glue on top of the top portion of your nail. They dont cover your entire nail... wraps are made of silk cloth...they glue the cloth and extend it over your nail and when the glue and this acrylic powder go on top, they make the cloth hard and then the wrap gets filed into the shape of a nail..voila! The wraps are thinner than an acrylic tip, which makes them look more natural, in my opinion. The tips are stronger, though...but they are thicker and they can be as long as you want them to be hope this made sense.... BTW: once you get wraps or tips, you have to keep going back every week or so to get them filled in as your nail grows...and if a tip pops off. They can damage your real nail underneath,though... If your nails grow ok, get a regular manicure...unless you want a longer, more glamorous nail. I prefer a natural, shorter nail...

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE INFO!!!!!
Ok, here's my deal - my nails can grow ok but I have this one nail with a ridge that (it seems in the cold weather) always splits at a certain point & I have to cut it all the way down. Should I get this one nail wrapped??

Re: Nails
I think for the wedding you would probably want to have all your nails the same size. But, also, generally if you wrap one nail you'll have to wrap all of them, or else you will be able to tell the difference.
I would recommend to use a tip on that nail that you have to cutt with silk wrap of all the nails. After the wedding, if you don't want to keep it up, you can just take it off, and only after a couple of days, your nails won't get damaged.
That is what I am planning to do. Have my silk nails with desired length for the wedding and the honeymoon and that take them off.
I've done that on a number occasions and my nails recovered quickly. If you get acrylic, the recovery will be longer.
