I think if you are getting wraps it would look better if you had both of the hands done.. I personally like crystal dip... that's what I have- it's like this white powder..they put gel and then dip your nails in that- they do it a few times. It's not too thick and it's not as long of a process as wraps. Plus I find that silk/linen/fiberglass wraps always peel (which drives me crazy).
I do not have extensions- just the crystal powerder over my natural length... I like the way the polish stays on.

Re: Nails
I'm new to having nails done and am getting married next Friday. At the suggestion of a few ladies on this board, I decided to go with silk wraps. I did it last Friday and will have them filled the day before the wedding.
My nails are strong as well, but the shape isn't great. And I really didn't want to risk one breaking. The wraps look good. They are mostly the same length as my real nails, and aren't too thick or annoying.
I had a french manicure done on them and will do the same for the wedding.
Cost was around $60. I don't (yet) know what it will cost to have them filled and repainted.

Re: Nails
emdonlon, are you planning on keeping them after the wedding? I am probably going to get them close to the wedding, and then take them off after. I dont think that they can do too much damage in a month or so, at least I hope not I really want my hands to look pretty the day of the wedding. I tried forever to get my natural nails to grow, but my right hand is hopeless

Re: Nails
I already have acrylic over my real nails, with out the acrylic, my nails break. I will have a french done but will probably get them repainted before going to hawaii for 2 weeks. French usually yellows when out in the sun for a long time.

Re: Nails
I have been doing acrylics for almost 7 years (wow can't believe it's been that long!) and I'm totally additcted to them. I have seen in the Avon catalogs 'sheer pink' and 'french pink' polish and also sheer/french lilac. I think I might try the lilac when it's time, for my toes and nails. Otherwise I will go with a frosted plummy color that I love. I don't think a pink will go with my flowers!
