NAILS - grrr

NAILS - grrr

I got my nails and toes done yesterday because I am going away this weekend with my mom and sister (and my adorable niece, 16 months) and because the place I went to offers a discount mon-wed. well my nail polish is 'bubbling' so to speak and about to peel off. I didn't have any clear last night or i would have done them, but I got it today, did it at like 9pm and i think by sat am every nail will be chipped.

GRRRRR. I was planning to get my nails done on thurs before my wedding because my rd is that night, but i think i will get them done on fri. and go with clear to the rd, just so it doesn't chip!!!!

it may have bubbled b/c of the heat and since you are getting married in Oct. it probably wont be an issue.

as for the chipping, i'd go on friday before the RD if possible, or maybe you can get them done while you are getting your hair or makeup done too

I feel ya -- it is the most annoying thing ever. Happened to me last week -- by the next morning 3 had chipped.

For your wedding go on Friday (that is what I am doing). I also find if you use Essie quick dry drops it helps limit the chipping because they dry completely from the bottom up.

I am looking for some other things that might help -- I will let you know what I find.

i got a manicure last friday for my bpics on sat and well sat morning some of them were chipping i hate that...and i dont want to go back every week to get them done

but i am just going to start putting clear polish over them myself. And for the wedding I am resorting to silk wrapping my nails...i like that look better since my nails grow in weird (some are shapped very oddly)

but maybe for you get them done a week before the RD and keep the clear polish on it and then get them done again on friday for the wedding on saturday!!

I hate bubbling nail polish. It usually happens to me when I use a creamy color and the girl slathers it on all thick. Do you have time to go back? If so, I would complain. If not, I am so sorry about this!

I can't stand that! What's worse is when it starst chipping I have to fight with every iota of my being not to pick or peel the polish off! Totally frustrating!

The bubbling is prob from the heat or a crappy top coat!! BUT the chipping I can help you with: there is a great base coat you need to get so your nails dont chip!! It's call bonder and it's made by Orly!! It's like $6 in Target and It is amazing!!

I agree, unless you are going to get wraps or something like that, I am going to do mine as late as possible the night before my wedding and I'll just get a new mani on my honeymoon

Re: NAILS - grrr

It's not bubbling like all tiny bubbles. It's the edge of my thumb - it's like one area has air under it, coming from the edge. I think it's because I went to old navy yesterday (got those summer clothes i needed!) and had to take a pair of shorts off the hanger -- it was one of those hangers that you have to push up on the little silver thing??? I hate those. Anyhow, I don't think it should have caused this, one day after a manicure.

For the RD, which is thursday before the wedding, I think I am either just going to coat them in clear or get a cheap mani on wed and then a good mani/pedi on fri afternoon. probably the DIY clear though - who's gonna look at my nails at the RD???

And I will definitely get another manicure before the hm. I have a week inbetween the wedding and the hm, so I can go the sat. after my wedding to get one. not like it will last until the following tuesday anyhow! And we are going to alaska, not sure if the cold is better or worse on nails???

Thanks! Have you ever brought this to the nail salon and asked them to use it? I really don't do my nails by myself. But maybe I will do this for the RD!

For your wedding - ask the nail tech to apply a coat of UV Gel on top of the last coat of nail polish - I know a salon in Northport that does this if your salon doesn't have it (but most salons do). The UV Gel prevents chipping and stays shiny for a week if not longer.

Re: NAILS - grrr

never use that stupid uv machine to dry your nails, that causes bubbles. i use essie polish, and mine lasts 3-4 days b4 it starts to chip, but there really is no way to avoid chipping. you have to just try to keep your hands out of water as much as possible, and always use gloves when washing dishes.

for your wedding, def get your nails done the day b4, u dont want to chance the chipping 2 days b4.

I use nailtique/nailtek and it makes a great base. Then definitely invest in a good quality clear top coat like essie or OPI and bring it with you when you get your nails done.

Thanks for the rec!!

Re: NAILS - grrr

I guess it depends on the quality of the gel, but in my experience with UV it has never bubbled.

Re: NAILS - grrr

Go get a Gel/Glue manicure. They use this base coat to harden your nails and it makes the polish last forever. I have had my polish on for three weeks and its barely chipped at the top, only a little bit at the bottom and around the edges and its now starting to grow out. It lasted for 1 1/2 weeks perfect. My hands are also in water alot. I am a part time dog bather and swim almost everyday. Before i started getting the gel manicure my polish was off within days. ESPECIALLY after swimming or washing dogs for 8 hours straight. The great thing was it was only 10 dollars extra for it.
