Name Change

Hey girls...I'm a little confused Can someone tell me what I need to do in order to legally change my last name once FH and I are married? TIA

Make sure when you go to the DMV to bring your marriage license, your current drivers license, your registration, and the title of your car!

When you go to social security, make sure you bring your passport with your maiden name as well as your marriage license...and your old social security card.

There are forms online to change your name on your license, to change your registration and title, and there's also a form online to change your name on your social security card.

Being a teacher, i also had to change my name at work and insurance at work and tell our adminstration to change it in the computer for scheduling and my deductions...more forms They told me today that I need to change my name on the teacher's retirement system and change who my beneficiary is...more forms and the beneficiary requires a copy of your marriage license and a copy of your NEW license.

I now understand why men don't change their names....with all this running around and forms and BS, they would NEVER get it done!!!

Yeah I need to change my name for the teacher's retirement system but can't do it until I get another marriage license in the mail, as well as my new driver's license. Its such a pain all of the things we need to change!

Also, don't forget to change your name on your car insurance. They might even make you add your husband to your car insurance policy.

Thankfully Social Security does the process for free. The DMV however, charges $12.50 for the new drivers license but the registration is free.
