NAME CHANGE HELP

Hi Everyone,

I am getting married 1 month from today. I have my marriage license but do I need to wait for the documents after the wedding to change my name. I do not know if I need the license signed by the officiant then sent in and wait for the one from the state or can I just use the marriage license that I just got or do I need to have the ceremony first.

I'm pretty sure you have to wait for the actual certificate that comes in the mail since you are not married yet.

Most if not all places will only accept a certified copy of your marriage license as proof to change your name. You should have the official copy back to you within a month in most cases. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays.
