I am going to the DMV today to change my last name and address. What do I need to bring? Is the line usually INSANE?!!

Re: name change help!
I would go on their website and see what they require. The website is dmv dot org. I think you have to have your new SS card and passport.
This is what I found on thier website:
Changing Address: You must notify the New York Department of Motor Vehicles within 10 days if you permanently move?assuming your documentation hasn't gone AWOL among all your packing boxes!
The best way to alert the DMV is by filling out Form MV-232 (Change of Address). With this form, you can update your driver license, learner's permit, ID card, and car registration records all at once, either in person, by mail, or by phone.
You have the free option of letting the DMV know your new address without receiving new documents showing the new address, or you can pay a fee and the DMV will issue a replacement driver license, learner's permit, or ID card with the new address.
Changing your name: Provide either your New York State driver license or ID card that displays your former name. Provide a marriage certificate, divorce document, or court papers that prove your name change. Complete another Application for Driver License or Non-Driver ID Card. Pay a $15 fee.

Not sure which one you are going to, but the lines usually aren't too bad. Bring your original lisence, and marriage certificate from town hall. And your title for your car, so you can change it on there too. Also be prepared, you have to take a new picture. And it costs $10.

Google the DMV website, there's a form you fill out, you probably need your marriage license too I would imagine, but check to be sure. Utility bills, bank statements, to prove your address, etc.

I think they only asked me for my marriage license, but I went right after SS so I had a letter from them stating the name change as well.

I would bring it just in case. Did you get a letter from the SS office saying that you changed you name?
