Name Change info

I know I said I was gone but I'm stumped

DH went ahead and put me on his stuff with my married name...so, I'm kinda now in a rush to get it done on my side.

We got our license. Do I need to have mulitple copies for DMV, SS, and Bank? If I do, does a photo copy count or do I need the actual license? What do I do first? TIA

For my bank, I showed them the marriage license we signed the day of the wedding - my priest made us a copy and gave it to us on the wedding day. Very glad he did because we tried to deposit our checks when we got back from honeymoon and the bank needed this as most people wrote the checks out to 'Mr. & Mrs. X'.

I just went to DMV this morning, and it was fairly simple. I just went in with my driver's license and original marriage certificate from the town. They do not accept a photocopy, she specifically asked for the one with the seal on it. She just looked at it, didn't even make a photocopy of it. And that was it.

Haven't gone to Social Security yet...

Just bring all the originals with you..
For DMV & the bank - you'll just need the license
For SS you'll need the license and your original Birth Certificate.

I dont think it makes a difference what is first... I did DMV yesterday, SS today and the bank tomorrow... it all is working out fine.

You don't need to make any copies. Just bring the original with you to DMV, and S.S. They give it right back to you.
As for the bank they can make a copy if they wish.

I did SS first....when I went to the DMV, they asked me for my new SS card, luckily I had it. I went to the DMV in Hauppauge.
