FH and I went for our wedding license today. I was hoping to keep both names, but no hyphen. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option...
So I took the hyphen...but now I'm starting to regret it. I can't be signing such a crazy long last name on anything (my first name is long enough!). So now, I'm contemplating just changing it to his...
If I decide to do this, do I have to reapply all over again or can I make the change on the marriage license???
Any suggestions or help in making this decision would be appreciated!! I have no issues about taking the name, I just though with teacher certs and whatnot, it would be easier to have both...but now I hear it's just as hard and I can't imagine having to do all that work and sign the huge last name with the '-' on checks and everything!!

Re: Name Change Question
Here is the link to the city clerk's office explaining what to do if you decide to change your last name again after applying for the marriage licence: http://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/html/marriage/amendments.shtml It sound like the only way you can change it is to get remarried after receiving your marriage certificate. If you were originally planning to keep both names the hyphen only adds one character. I would think about it for a few days before you make a final decision. I never thought changing my name would bother me but even though I decided to hyphenate my name it was weird leaving the court house knowing that I am going to have a NEW name.
