Name changing

Hey girls!

If you are planning to change your name, when do you plan on doing so, and where do you begin?? I'm assuming with your social security card? Then License? And I'm assuming you have to have you completed marriage license to do so?

I'm sure I can find some old thread from another board about the process, but I'm just curious when you ladies plan to change it in relation to your wedding date.

Re: Name changing

I recently changed my name (first name spelling). You would first go to SSN, then I would suggest changing your bank accounts next. Then maybe autility bill (liek LIPA) I had a hard time at DMV as you need a certain number of points with your new name in order to do the change. I would check their website first prior to going. Credit cards have to be done via mail and you need a copy of your DL in most cases.

I would do your passport last as they need the original in order to do the change (you do get it back). HTH

I had to bring my marriage license to social security and change my name on my social security card first. Then you can change your name on you bank accounts, checks, driver's license etc.

How did you already obtain a marriage license if your wedding is in Dec? I thought you could only apply within 60 days of the wedding, or is it different in Nassau and Suffolk? I'm confused lol
