naming tables

i am getting married in october and was wondering if anyone had any ideas for naming the tables...you know, instead of putting numbers on them, put something else that could incorporate mine and my fiance`s relationship......i think martha stewart had something in one of her magazines on this, but i can`t remember....i want to do something different, that people will remember....any ideas? thanks!

We are going to do that too. We are probably going to use cities and towns. Places that have some meaning to us and places we are going to visit on our honeymoon in Italy. The other option was football teams - guess who voted for that one.

I've heard of some of the following: Favorite vacation spots you've both enjoyed, complete with pictures and tourist brocures Theme-related ideas, ie: Sports teams or Disney related names Are you doing anything partcularly related to Fall that would fit in? Maybe Fall flowers and veggies, like Zinnas and Pumpkins etc. What about the names of Wines, like Merlot and Cabernet?

We are getting married in October as well, and being that we have a seashell theme we will be naming the tables after different seashells. We are going to try and find a large seashell or have few small ones for each named table.

We are doing this too. We are using different cities that have special meaning to us and then a little blurb on why it is important. My FI and I went to the same college, and so we also thought about having different locations on campus and putting a blurb about each one of those. But the cities, everyone can relate to.

My FI and I are known for our love to gamble and our frequent trips to vegas so we are naming each table after a different casino in Las Vegas.

my FI and I are naming each table after a place that is important to our relationship. we are going to have a little blurb about why it is important to us and then what the bride remebers about it and what the groom remembers about it. I am looking forward to doing them with my FI. good luck!

I was thinking about countries that we have been to (His family is from Spain and France and mine from Germany - so its a little easier for us). Or cities... My cousins husband is from Sweden and they put the name of the city and a picture of them there. I like the idea of wine names or other 'exotic' names... For Karen H: I like the Flamingo - its moderately priced, clean and I've won money there...

Vegas Baby!!!

Hi Karen We love Vegas too - you will have a wonderful time there. We stayed at the Flamingo (the first hotel built on the strip) its a Hilton now, well priced and Hilton quality. We also stayed in the Luxor, very nice a little more expensive but worth it. If I were going again I would look for a deal in Bellagio, Paris or the Venetion all are beautiful and you really dont have to stay in one to enjoy it.

Karen - Vegas

Karen, Just thought I would chime in with my Vegas review. My future in laws and my FI and I went there last summer. It was wonderful! We stayed at the Mirage, which was excellent! The pool is fabulous. The Venetian and Paris look nice too, as do the Bellagio and the something Bay (forgot the whole name) if you like gaudier establishments. I wouldn't frown at Caesars or really any of the others in that area. We also spent 2 days in Death Valley. I love heat, but for most I wouldn't recommend it for the summer. It was, however, like nothing I have ever seen. Also spent 2 days at the Grand Canyon with my cousin while my Ken and his family went rafting in the Canyon. It was really a great trip! We were tourists in Vegas and I do recommend the Mirage highly, especially because of the pool and the beds (extremely comfortable). We saw shows, gambled... spent about 5 or 6 days, but more time would have been fine! If you have any questions on any of these places, I would be happy to help!

Misha - Vegas Question

I have probably stayed in every hotel there due to several conventions out there. Treasure Island is one of my favorites when I'm trying not to spend too much money. It is right next to the Mirage. The Mirage casino is nice but the rooms are much nicer at TI. Some other favorites but a little pricier: Venetian (great rooms), Mandalay Bay (great pool), Alladin & Paris. The ones I would stay away from are Excalibur, Flamingo, New York New York and Luxor (pool is like a public city pool!). MGM is nice but really big meaning it is miles to get to your room. Feel free to ask anything else. I know the city very well!

Actually, the arcade closed recently because they are putting in a restaurant similar to Gillians (i think).

We`re getting married in October and doing a fall theme through out the wedding and I was thinking of doing different leaf names.... but you have to write all of them out on the place cards instead of just a number. Are you hand writing your place cards? I really don`t want to, but can`t figure out an inexpensive way to do them the way some people do with the frames. I already have favors picked out and don`t want to spend money on frames or those little holder thingies.... any ideas?

I`m also getting married in Oct and planning a fall theme. I want to do something different with the placecards, but haven`t decided yet. Your leaf idea is very creative! What about printing them on small cards? Since you already have the favors, you can just use the regular placecards, but type them in a nice font instead of hand writing them? That is, if you have access to a printer handy!

Pumpkins and Gourds

You could buy those mini pumpkins or gourds and attach the place card to one of those with a small pin. Another option would be to use standard style place cards but glue a fall leaf or flower in the corner (find a nice artificial one or use the real thing if it's leaves) I glued little fabric flowers into the corner of my seating cards and it looked great!
