Naming Tables

MY FI & I agree on naming the tables, instead of #13, #14, etc, Here's the thing-he works in TV, and wants to name them after old TV shows' 'love Boat', Addams family, partidge family, Hawaii 5-0. He LOVES this idea. I'm not so sure. Would you think it was cheesy?

Re: Naming Tables

Personally -- a 'tongue-in-cheek' salute to your FI's career sounds like a fun & personal touch.

Of course if you went overboard and walked through a big TV screen when you make your entrance to the reception, or you chose the theme to The Love Boat for your first dance --> that might be a little much.

Seriously, my FI asks for so few things 'his way' -- because he knows how 'type A' I am about the wedding --> so I'm happy to do compromise on the little things that make him happy.

Re: Naming Tables

My FI is doing our table name cards after baseball stadiums. His favorite thing to do is visit baseball parks around the US, plus his hobby is photography. Anyone who knows him, knows how much he loves his quest to visit them all. So he is making our table cards with photos that he took at each park, and a brief history about the ball park.

I like adding personal touches is what makes a wedding great.

Re: Naming Tables

It depends on the sort of wedding your having. If your having a sort of casual, fun affair - it sounds perfect. But if you are having a more formal reception without any other thematic elements related to TV - it seems a little out of nowhere.

Re: Naming Tables

Just to Stef's point --> if you think it'd be an issue, you could make a little tent card for the table where the placecards will be sitting explaining that the table names are a tribute to your husband's career -- that way they're not too 'out-of-nowhere.'

Re: Naming Tables

I think people love to having something to talk about @ weddings & something that means something to you & your Fi is perfect. My Fi insisted that we have cocktail franks(he calls them the working man's hors d'oeuvres) so we will have them at our elegant cocktail hour. I think the men should get to contribute at least one idea. Good luck
